Need to check voltage coming from control. If no voltage you need to replace main board on the rear of ref.

Fridge Won't Cool

First off that "condenser fan motor" needs to be replaced. It is not running near the speed it needs to. (I replace those all the time on the job) Here is the replacement to order. Also, based on the information you provided, it sounds like the main control board is sticking in defrost and you will need to replace the main control board on the unit. GE has an updated control board that address's this problem along with some other issues the original control board had. Here is the updated board to order.
All the parts come with a 365 day, any part, any reason return.

The metal bar that runs down between the fridge and the freezer is very hot. The fridge and freezer still work.

Under normal operation, the metal separator should be warm to prevent condensation from forming. Since yours is getting too hot, the condenser fan is likely not working. The condenser fan moves air through the unit, cooling the compressor and maintaing a desired operating temperature. You can check this by removing the lower panel at the rear of the refrigerator. You should see a small fan near the compressor (the round black unit). The cause could be a bad fan motor or a bad main control board. Unplug the fan and test if there is voltage going to the fan while the compressor is on. If not, the likely cause is a bad controller board. If current is present, the fan motor is bad. In either case it is an easy fix. The parts are available on-line.

Have a GE Profile PFS22MIBBB. Just replaced condenser fan motor, and main board. The control board now is working, but the fan still has not turned on after 2 hours. Is this normal, or is there...

You will need to unplug the fan and test the voltage coming from the board. You should have 12 to 13 volts DC. Unless you place a fan on condenser that blows air to keep it cool until we locate the problem the compressor can be damaged from over heating. Click here=> GE ARTICA PROFILE TECHNICAL INFORMATION On the first diagram the tech sheet and look for J2 that has both sets of wires for evaporator and condenser fan motors. With new board and new fan you must have a bad connection in the wiring harness. Click on wiring diagram and it will open in a new tab as a Service Manual. Look it over and ask me questions as communication will be very important for you to be able to understand all of this. I will be here when ready so please let me know. Please rate my solution after I have helped you resolve the problem and communicate with me. I am offering my help to you free. GE refrigerator won't keep cool

check the voltage going into you fan w/ the old main board and also w/ the new board. You might be getting a low voltage w/ your new board or the fan you replaced is for a diferent voltage. Have you tried to put the old fan back w/ the new board??

GE GSS20IEPHWW side-by-side refrigerator stopped cooling

First off, when the fans are both running, the compressor should also be running. Sometimes, because they run quietly, it is difficult to tell if they are running. Touch the compressor to feel for heat and / or vibration to confirm running. (if the compressor gets too hot, the overload will stop it until the compressor cools down. That could happen with too low or too high voltage, even with the cooling fan running) You did not say how long you let the unit defrost. To properly defrost it, you should empty out the freezer side, remove the shelves, and take the metal cover off the back inside wall of the freezer. Then, use a hair dryer to melt all the frost off. If the coils were blocked with frost, you probably have a burnt out defrost heater (located at the bottom of the cooling coils) when replacing the defrost heater, use part number WR51X10101 and follow directions, as it may have a different configuration than the original heater. A frost blocked evaporator (coils inside the freezer) will stop normal air circulation inside the refrigerator. Cold air will then be able to flow backward, into the bottom of the refrigerator side through the normal return air duct located at the bottom of the refrig / freezer divider. This cold air can freeze the water line or water reservoir located there. There for, solving your defrost issue most likely will also solve your water line freeze issue.

Evaporator fan not working

Ha ha
Most G.E. the fan will not work if limit control is not working, staying in open position. This also means the defrost heater will not work. If you had an amp probe it would simplify your diagnoses. you could put it into defrost, and if the amps showed heater was not coming on it would prove my theory. The limit control is a small button like switch about 1 inch in diameter cliped to the cooling
coils in back of freezer. Hope this helps.
