My PIN in the DC jack broke off. How hard is it to fix? The new part is on its way.

You dont need worry about it. The powerjack can be easily replaced.. You can visit your laptop's support site for a replacement jack and it should cost you about 20$. If you can provide me the model number and brand of your laptop i might be able to help you find it.Good luck!

It is possible that it could be a bad solder joint. It could also be that the connector is a different one. Some laptops use a dual voltage power structure. On the Inspiron E1505 (same as the 6400) I have it requires the dual voltage power. This is where the outside of the plug is the ground and the inside of the plug is one voltage and the center pin is yet another voltage. In this case, (if I remember correctly) the inside of the plug is like 19.5 volts and the center pin is like 9 volts. The inside of the plug supplies the power to the laptop and charging circuit and the center pin tells the laptop that the power adapter is plugged in and should start charging. If the laptop recognizes the Vostro power supply then this is a good possibility. Either way, it is worth getting it checked out. The last thing you want to do is burn out the charge circuit on the motherboard by having the incorrect power supply plugged in to it. It may work for a while or it may work forever but you never know.

How to change the battery

hi

its so simple...

  1. Step 1 Purchase a new battery. Refer to your laptop owner's manual to determine the type of battery you need. Compatible laptop batteries can be purchased from computer parts dealers, the laptop manufacturer, or an online auction.
  2. Step 2 Turn your laptop over and locate the battery compartment. Release the lock/latch and slide out the old battery. Refer to your owner's manual if necessary.
  3. Step 3 Install the new battery by first aligning its receptor pins with the pins in the battery compartment. Push down on the opposite end to snap the battery in place. Secure the lock/latch mechanism by sliding it back to the original position.
  4. Step 4 Plug your laptop into an electrical outlet to charge the new battery. It usually takes about 24 hours to complete the first charge. Subsequent charges will only take a few hours.

thank you

Dell c640 charging problems.

Instead of spending alot of time trying to do something that could potentially harm your laptop..why not just buy a power supply?

You can get one here Click here for about 16 dollars. That's a great deal they are usually about $60 and its a Dell brand not some off brand.

Good Luck

Acer laptop (aspire 5570z series) won't charge/turn on

I have the same piece a junk, the poor design of the power conector allows the barely soldered center pin to come out with the charging conector, mine lasted about a year,it was tight when it was new, have always been very careful with it and it still broke ,what a joke ,If you pull the pin out of the conector slightly then put it in slowly until you see the charge light go on in front of the computer,it wil charge
