Question about Aiwa Car Audio Receivers

2 Answers

Aiwa cdc-x204 My sons controls just suddenly locked up and the display just keeps cycling through all of the menus. Can get a cd in and out but takes several tries. The cd will play but only at a fixed loud volume with no controls from the faceplate you can not flip from track to track.

Try removing the faceplate from the box for a couple of minutes and replace it. Also disconnect the player from its power source for a minute or two and reconnect and see if this helps..

If that doesnt work, try cleaning the contacts on the faceplate and the main box using a Q-Tip and a bit of isopropyl alcohol. When dry, replace the faceplate and see if this resolves the issue..

Try disconnecting the battery to see if that will reset the device. Let me know what the outcome is and we will go from there to fix this. Just make sure to respond here in a timely matter so that we can get you on your way as soon as possible.

good luck

I have a AIWA X204 CD in my car.I don,t know what I did, but the player doesn't answer to any comand. i push every one of button, but he don;t start to play. The screen it's light up,, and...

I think that's Demo mode.
I got stuck there too.

This is what worked for me:
  1. Power the radio off (hold the power button in top left corner in for several seconds)
  2. Remove face plate
  3. Hold in reset 10 seconds
  4. Press push-menu dial/button 3 or 4 times
  5. Insert cd and hit source to switch to tuner before cd starts
Not all of these steps may be necessary.
I suspect having the power off before the reset button was the important part.

Just had aiwa cdc x204 stolen from car but they left wiring harness intack. Cannot find this stereo anywhere. Is there another Aiwa or make that uses same wiring harness?

Most modern car stereos all use a standard plug (the name escapes me at present) so virtually any stereo should just plug in...

If your not sure, pop in to a motor parts place such as halfords and ask them to take a quick look at the wiring in your car... they will tell you weather it is standard or not...

Unresponsive face plate/ buttons

check wiring to make sure all wires r properly connected, sounds like a power problem . if it is an expensive radio and it is broken then its probably worth fixing.if its a cheepie than chunk it and get a new one

Display issues with Aiwa CDC X207

I had the same problem. There are two small light bulbs that illuminate the digital display, and they are burned out.

You can easily replace them. The Aiwa part number for them is 8Z-KT1-641-010. The bulb is made by Sony, and the Sony part number is U0087654U.

I purchased them from Union Electronic Distributors:

https://www.ued.net/ued/addItems.do?itemCode=SNYU0087654U

Note that the product is not an item they keep in stock, so it may take 1-2 weeks or more before you receive them. Be patient.

Here are the steps to replace the bulbs. You will need a small (#1) Phillips screwdriver and a soldering iron (low heat). A very small flat blade screwdriver (1/8") will also be helpful.

1) Remove the faceplate from the radio and bring it to a well-lit work table.

2) Remove the four Phillips screws on the back on the faceplate.

3) Carefully separate the back half of the faceplate cover from the front half. There are three locking tabs along the top, and three locking tabs along the bottom. I used the small flat blade screwdriver to separate the two halves.

4) Once the back half of the faceplate has been removed, re-install two of the Phillips screws to hold the circuit board in place (one screw on each end). You don't need to screw them down tightly; just screw them in until you begin to feel them stop. These screws will keep the circuit board from separating from the front faceplate and causing the buttons to fall out!

5) Locate the two bulbs. They are labeled PL 901 and PL 902 (may also be labeled PL 1 and PL 2). Carefully unsolder the bulbs and remove them from the circuit board. You may want to do one at a time.

6) Each bulb has a colored cover to change the color of the light (I jokingly refer to them as 'bulb condoms'). Remove the covers and carefully slide them in place on the new bulbs. You may want to slightly dampen the bulbs to aid in sliding the covers on. Be sure to slide them all the way down.

7) Solder the new bulbs in place. They are not polarity sensitive.

8) Trim off the excess wires.

9) If you installed the two screws in Step 4, remove them.

10) Carefully re-attach the rear faceplate cover to the front faceplate cover, making sure that all six locking tabs snap in place.

11) Put the four Phillips screws in the rear faceplate and carefully tighten them.

That's it! Now, put the faceplate back on the radio, turn it on, and enjoy your lighted display!

Hope this helps.

Ron
