Question about Canon MV800i Mini DV Digital Camcorder
I have just bought a secondhand MV800 for my young son (13). He wants to transfer video to the computer but I thought the connection would be USB! I am not familiar with FireWire. His computer is an ageing Dell but we also have a modern (< one year old) Dell Inspiron computer. How do I recognise the FireWire connection and can his older computer have a FireWire connection added?
I have the same problem. Same camera. I got a new Dell Inspiron - which has a 4 pin firewire input. The canon came with a 4 pin to 6 pin cable. So I got a 4 pin to 4 pini cable but my comp still doesn't recognize it. Using Vista.

Firewire is also called 1394 or dv port-card can always be added to older computer to support-cables are 4 pin to 4 pin or 4-6 pin-cam is always 4 pin -mac and most towers 6 pin-laptops are 4 pin-look for a port that looks like usb but has a trapezoid shape end
