Question about Toshiba Televison & Video
The problem is the power supply components over heating. The power supply is on the back side right hand. supply extra cooling via a fan and it will stop shutting down. This is just a cheap and simple fix that wil tie you over for a while. cheers mates.

Sounds like somthing is shorted (hence the crackeling sound) and the unit is going into error protection mode causing ot to go back in stand by. The most common problem is bad caps or shorted fets on the power supply. If your good with a meter, you should be able to open the back of the set and find the problem quickly. Or look at the back of the set when you power it on and see if you can find the arching.

LG will sell you a new lamp. It may resolve the problem but just as likely it's the contacts where the lamp unit plugs to the TV. There's a few types of connectors. The early ones are dodgy and cause the problem you describe. A faulty lamp can also cause it though.

If the lamp has been replaced I would think the Lamp ballast would be most likliest followed by the color wheel and then the Digital board. You can get any part needed for your model at www.tvrepairworld.com just leave them a email they respond quickly.
