If you bricked your psp then you have to re install the custom firmware (or the firmware w.e) and it should work if not it'll be something else and we will need more information on the problem etc.

Everytime i started to update my psp to version 3.51 it tells me that THE GAME COULD NOT BE STARTED (DADADADA). what is this and what will i do with this? my current version right now is 3.40 OE-A

If u r trying to update ur psp by any umd in this firmware, It may not be possible so all u have to do is download the update file(official update whichever version u like) and copy it inside a folder named UPDATE, the UPDATE folder should be inside a folder named PSP. The folder PSP could be found at the front(root folder) or when you open ur psp drive by using a computer...
NOTE: a)Do not cancel or switch off the psp during update...
b)Do not rename the update that you have downloaded...

My PSP won't turn on, and displays nothing.

Ok it sounds as if you have bricked your PSP. Please be careful when you are updating your PSP as this will brick your PSP. Let me give you a quick overview of what happens when your PSP updates, first of all your PSP will erase it's operating system and write a new Operating system, this is why it will not turn on completely if you lose power while it's updating. ONLY UPDATE YOUR PSP IF IT'S COMPLETELY CHARGED AND PLUGGED IN FOR SAFETY REASONS. I will not post the solution to this problem for it is too long to post up here, YouTube has many videos on how to un-brick your PSP. Best of luck, for the solution you can email me at ace@htcsvc.com

PSP update

This may lead to the same problem, but here goes.
Try an earlier version of firmware to update to first, like 3.80, 3.90, or 4.00. You can get those here: http://www.psp-hacks.com/category/36 Download the update file, apply it to your memory card, and try installing the older version.
If you get the same problem, try dumping all of the contents of your memory card to your computer, title it "PSP Memory Stick Backup" or something along those lines so you don't lose it. After you clear the memory card, reset your PSP to the original settings under System, System Settings, Restore Default Settings. Then format your memory stick with the PSP's format option. Try any of the updates and then put everything back on your memory card.
If none of that works, I guess it would be time to call Sony.

PSP

Sony Manual says: http://manuals.playstation.net/document/en/psp/current/settings/update.html

Notice

During an update, do not remove the Memory Stick Duo™ media, do not remove the AC adaptor and do not turn off the system. If an update is cancelled before completion, the system software may become damaged and the system may require servicing or exchange.

But you can still repair that yourself if you are confident, I am giving you a link for instructions and infos.
