Is the power not working on your PS3 This can be a frustrating occurrence, especially if your PS3 was working properly before. While there are a number of reasons why this might occur, there are two common ones -- the use of a non-licensed or genuine AC adapter, or a failed AC Adapter on your PS3 On very rare occasions, the power supply adapter on your PS3 may requiring the entire PS3 unit may need to be replaced.
However, before get too worried about that -- let's try a few basic troubleshooting procedures to try and diagnose the issue. PS3 guide on this problem is fairly comprehensive and has some good content, so I have included that below. In addition, you will want to check that following common issues before moving forward. 1. Check and make sure your cables are properly plugged in. This may sound silly, but sometimes they can become loosened causing bad power connections. Best to check before you spend much time troubleshooting. 2. Does the power strip or wall outlet that your are plugging the PS3 into have power? Make sure you can plug in other devices into that same outlet to verify there is not an issue with either the power strip or the wall outlet. 3. Make sure there is adequate ventilation. Although it is covered below, it is best to make sure there is several inches of free space at the back of the PS3 to provide good air circulation to the PS3 so it does not overheat. Here is the PS3 information on trying to troubleshoot power problems on a PS3: 1. Make sure that the model number "RVL-002 (USA)" molded into the AC adapter. Unlicensed products are not fully compatible and may not work correctly. Hope this will help...
Hi, this is heat related and, this issue may have damaged your power supply board. if the red lights continue to flash after you have unplugged this unit for 5 minutes, this will confirm power board failure and, you will need to replace thiscircuit board.
You can purchase a replacement power supply unit at this link below and i also advise to purchase a cooling adapter for your system as well. this will prevent this form happening again in the future.
I Definitely Suggest you just buy a new power supply,,,, If your power supply fails, you can have multiple issues with your ps3... Being as expensive as they are... i would just say your best bet is to buy a new power supply... As for where to buy... Definately ebay... way cheaper!... make sure you check people's ratings before buying.... If you dont have access to ebay, then i suggest hitting up a electronics store that sells ps3's... if anything it can be ordered in... :D Good luck... Please rate! :)
Hi There, Unfortunately for you, it seems that whilst Attempting to use the Higher voltage power supply on a Korean machine you could have damaged some of the internal electronics within the system itself, The fuses may not have stopped all of the current reaching the Inside of the Ps3, this could mean that you would have to potentially replace your console, Unfortunately Sony won't be able to solve your issues for some reason as you Purchased the PS3 in Korea, ive helped other people purchasing their PS3's from the far east (Korea,Japan etc) and when using their home power supply which can be upto Double the voltage of the PS3s, its frazzled the wiring inside of the console.
you should still try to call sony customer support, see if they have had a change of heart and decide to help people who have purchased imported consoles only to break them due to the voltages going through them, if not then im afraid you may need to replace your console !
