Re: Fridge - with freezer on top
Check the bottom refrigerator door gasket for any possible spilled food or drink that may have leaked onto it. Clean this area with warm soapy water. It may solve your problem. Also check under the drawers and make sure there is nothing there. If there is a drain under the drawers clean it and put some hot water with bleach into it to flush it out.

raise the front legs so the machine is tilted back a little, this will help the top door close easier, also most likely you have nothing heavy on the door itself, all a fridge does is move air,the evaporator coil gets cold and the evap. fan blows cold air from the freezer into the fridge side and the air keeps circulating, when you shut the top door it's pushing the air down into the freezer and popping the door open, like i said raise the front legs a little and put stuff on the freezer door so it has some wieght to it and it won't pop open.hope this helps salde
What does it smell like? Burnt plastic , mold , rotten food? Check gaskets and temp in fridge, food could be spoiling. It is tough to get serious odors out of fridges. Bleach, vinegar are good for killing odors. Check manufactures recommendations.
Hi, The smell could either be the fan motor or the defrost heating coil... Check out these tips...they can help you figure out what is going wrong withyour refrigerator Refrigeratornot Cooling or Fridge not Cooling
Please note when you keep fish in freezer once, the smell will be longer even you remove it. O.K. Now solution for your problem- Please unplug power.Keep fridge door open. Take wet cloth dipped in soap water and clean all compartment including freezer . Keep freezer door also opened. Then clean with dry cloth. Spray room spray in your room not into the fridge. And allow 5 hrs to circulate fresh air to pass thr' your fridge and then close fridge and freezer doors. Plug fridge and run for one hour on empty. After one hour store items in fridge and/or freezer. Keep all food items in closed style which will avoid odor spreading and also be a hygienic. Thanks.
If new plumbing, system is flushing and may cause a bad taste or odd color.Has a food item spoiled? Make sure that strong smelling food (for example, fish) is wrapped so that it is airtight. Clean out your freezer periodically and throw away any spoiled or suspect food.
Place foods in airtight containers to prevent the transfer of odors. And also Flush out water hose from tap end to freezer with warm water
And also clean fridge with wet cloth (with soap solution). And then clean with dry cloth. .Keep fridge door open after cleaning all compartments for 4hrs minimum, as fresh air could wipe out any bad odor in fridge. And then start using fridge. Hope, it's helpful.
Hope you would have cleaned fridge and started using immediately. Don't do it. Power off. Takeslightly wet cloth (dipped in soap water) andclean all portion. And after 5 minutes clean with dry cloth. Keep fridge door opened for minimum 6 hours to allow fresh air passing into fridge compartment. And then place foodsin airtight containers to prevent the transfer of odors. Now close fridge door and plug power.
If the odor is only present from the bottom of the fridge, and not inside the freezer or when it is shut, it is most likely spoiled something. Put everything in a few coolers, cover with ice and close up, spray out the fridge with some cleaner and let the freezer defrost if there is ice buildup on racks or surfaces. After the fridge is clean, I suggest using a box of baking soda to keep odors out of your fridge. Arm & Hammer recommends replacing these boxes every 30 days, but I've had mine in there for 6 months or so and it helps.
If your sure about spoiled food. Spoiled lemons are one of the worst, and the machine has not been abused, it's a problem of the selling dealer. Fan motors have been known to create an odor when their windings start to burn. Plastic items that become detached from the interior cabinet and wind up laying on the defrost heater which gets very hot during defrost is another, however, I would demand a service call (free) since everything on it is under warranty. Make sure it's creating the odor when the tech shows up.
There are a couple of methods to help remove odors from a fridge. The first is a cookie sheet with baking soda spread across it left in the fridge for several days. The other is something called Activated Carbon. Most stores sell it as a carbon odor filter and it is pretty cheap. It actually works better then the baking soda so I recommend you pick some up and just leave it inside the fridge. You can also put this behind your fridge or wherever you have foul odors. Hope this helps.
