    PIXMA MP170

    Error 1500

Same error code, and I think it is related to the ink cartridge, but it is catching and dragging the paper before it gets rolled out.

First, download the software at http://www.box.net/shared/4yblbn34kg

Secondly, to run the software your printer has to be in service mode. Do that by
- unplug cable
- press and hold "power" button
- plug cable
- press "resume" and release
- release the "power" button
At this stage, your computer will detect a new hardware

Run the software.

oke

I can't print my documents. My Printers model is Canon IP2700 and it says there that the error code is 5100. How can I fix the problem? we need the print immediately. Is there any solution we can fix it?

Usually, error code 5100 means some kind of obstruction in the print path, maybe something that had fallen inside the printer, the gears being jammed by something that got loose inside the printer, or ink on the clear plastic encoder/timing strip (a plastic strip about 1/4" in width that you can see running from side to side and connects to the print head).

Clean the plastic strip with alcohol , check if there is nothing blocking the head carriage set (sometimes kids play and hide toys, pens, coins, inside printers, VCRs or any other devices that have "doors"...).

Hope this info may help you!

What is error message 5100 for this printer?

Code 5100 refers to a carriage that is not freely moving from side to side. Look to the far left and right for anything that would impede the carriage path.

Also, it is possible that the clear plastic encoder strip just behind the carriage path has become smudged with (most often) grease. You can clean the strip with a cotton swab dibbed in alcohol.

I hope this helps!

Error code 5100 on mx700 printer

There is a thin (1/4"wide) plastic strip running across the width in front of and below the drive belt. This part is related to the optical encoder which tells the print head where it is. Look closely, there are fine black vertical lines on this strip. If the strip gets a piece of crud on it, you get an error during the start up sequence. Softly clean this strip with a damp lint free tissue. This also fixed a gap in the printing running lengthwise (not across the page like a clogged head).

MX850 - error code 5100 = can you help please.

Hi You can Try

Error Code 5100
Solution 1:
Clean the timing strip.

Solution 2:
The purge cap (the white sliding mechanism that the print head parks to when it's not in use) may be not lubricated well enough .

Lubricate the sliders with some white grease (don't get it on the small wipers or the black caps); this repair probably require to remove the right panel off of the printer to gain access to the purge mechanism.

My printer quit working and is showing error 5100. I have tried everything and still can't get it to work

I also have a code 5100 error showing on my MP470. After I hit the print button it stops after running for maybe 1 or 2 seconds. I have to remove the paper from the back. It always shows smudged ink and crumpling in upper left hand corner.

I contacted Canon tech support and they answered with some instructions to see if it would correct the problem. They said if it didn't correct it, it was a hardware problem and since I was under warranty I could exchange it....for a refurbished model. I have sent a request for an exchange. So far no answer back.

I get ERROR 5100 message for my i350 printer...of course it will not print. How is this fixed? Please help.

I had the error code 5100 for my canon pixma ip6220d printer and all it was a pen in the track of the cartridges. I've been looking for that pen for awhile too. So I would say look for something in the way of the cartridges. Hope this helps everyone.
