Question about Whirlpool Ultimate Care II LSQ9549L Top Load Washer

1 Answer

Same whirlpool ultimate care 2 gripe.

I'm not sure how this works, am I talking to you ronnie204? Oh well, it's good therapy in any case. Does your machine agitate? The way my problem started was about 5 minutes into the wash cycle, it just started making a buzzing sound when the machine should have been agitating or spining. Unlike my computer, car, sprinklers....problems, there doesn't seem to be all that much help out there for washing machines on the net, but I will not pay the people I bought it from 3 1/2 yrs ago $50 to listen to it and tell me it'll be $200 for a new transmission/motor ect..So it's either fix this one or the cheapest replacement I can find, because it appears Whirlpool does not build em like they used to!
Sorry, enough venting, all my research pointed to the coulping, the only way I could check it out was to put it on car jack stands, fill it with as little water as possible and look from underneath. it still made the buzzing sound with the agitator moving very slow & short with both halfs of the coupling moving, but very slowly. I was trying to find out what the normal RPM for the motor should be for spin and agitate cycles, but no joy. All I can think of is either the transmision is binding (not likely, since the coupling didn't shear) or theres a motor controller not sending the right signal (to go faster) to the motor.
Anyway, any idea's or data you can share would be greatly appreciated, maybe togeather we can fix these machines.

Thanks, Good luck, Tim

Sounds like the run winding is out on the motor BTW the whole cabniet comes off the unit so you dont need to put it up on jack stands

Why is the agitator not agitating?

Is this a machine withwith an agitator & a fixed drum? If this is the case I would think that the drive belt has stretched or broken.

The agitator on my maytag mvwc300vw1 barely moves. We used an agitator replacement kit but nothing changed. The spin cycle works fine. Does our washer have a repair we can handle?

there really isnt much more to look at when u have the issue ur talking about? Are u sure u placed the cam dogs in correctly? u may want to check the agitator spline which the agitator sits into at bottom if bad however that should also effect the spin?

My kenmore series 80 model 11020892 fills with water --will not agitate or spin or empty water makes a terrible noise I need help!

Well the first thing is to check and see if the belt is broke on the drum (take the back off) or the belt is slipping ,hence the noise .Not a major deal but that is what it sounds like and that is good news because that is an easy fix. Get model and your nearest appliance store will have one. I probably won't empty water cause the other two cycles weren't working ,I'm pretty sure its the belt from what you have told me.Good luck! Oh and by the way it comes offf easy just undo the springs and well you'll see easy!

Whirlpool washer top load agitator does not work

Whirlpool top load machines have a coupling beyween the motor and the gearbox..This coupling can fail with age or if the machine is overloaded. The pump should still work even if the coupling is broken..If this is the case then it's not a big job...You need a tech who knows the tricks, and it won't take long to fix....Good luck....Nomess

Washer stops agitating durning the rinse cyle, but timer keeps going. Also won't wont spin the water out on the rinse cycle. Wash and spin work just fine. This problem is the same on all three cycles.

I suggest you replace the control box. I need Mgfr & model # to find the part number for you. The replacement steps are more mechanical than electrical. Oh! make sure you UNPLUG unit before starting repair.

Machine will not agitate. makes noise

HI. This issue you are having concerning the noise you are hearing from the agitator, can be resolved by replacing the clutch assembly. This assembly is responsible for initiating the agitating nature of this device. Seems to be some stripped out pieces that are vital to smooth and correct motion. I would also take a good look at the drive shaft assembl;y as well. there may be parts here that may need to be replaced as well. Finally, I would check to make sure the gear case(tranmission) is also functioning correctly. i suspect the clutch assembly is stripped or missing some vital parts that have broken off.

please rate and god bless.

Washing machine stops at spin cycle and now won't run at all

Possibly the lid switch. It won't spin if it doesn't know the lid is closed. Some washers won't agitate with the lid open either, so let it fill until it starts agitating, then lift the lid. If the washer stops you know you've got a good lid switch. If it keeps going you know you need to test the lid switch. Just hearing if it clicks or not is not always a sign it's good. Some Maytag/ Admiral washer lid switches have more than one contact that must close to spin.
It could also be a problem with the timer. Put it in the spin cycle where you know it should be spinning. Make sure the lid is closed. Grab the timer knob and try wiggling the timer shaft up and down and around without turning the knob. If it starts and stops you've got a bad timer. You may still have a bad timer if nothing happens, but you'd have to check it with a meter.

Machine does not spin, clothes are soaked

fill washer and make sure it agitates. If it does not agitate but can here motor running you have a bad motor coupling. If it agitates but wont spin make sure lid switch is good, if good you have a bad gearcase.

Machine will not agitate

most likely it's either a broken belt, or the motor is going out. to check it you need to take the outside casing off, not sure exactly how to do that on that model. Anyway open it up, check under the drum for a belt, if the belt is in tact than it's the motor, in which case. Personally I wouldn't put in the effor to replace. as to where you can get a belt if it is broken, I don't know that either. Good Luck
