Question about Panasonic PT-50LC14 50" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

Blue dots (small points) and big yellowish spot on the screen

When my projection display is turned on, the screen shows many blue dots (points) at the left side (more than 30). There were only a few ones (approximately 10) the first time the dots appeared, but as the days go past, the number of points increase. The operating instructions manual does not contain anything about this type of situation. Does it mean that the display needs cleaning or repair? How can I solve it?

Also, the display shows a big yellowish spot from the middle to the bottom of the screen. People look yellowish. Please let me know if it is a damaged part, which one, and if I can replace it.

Most likely the LCD panel is failing. These are "stuck pixels". Common with early LCD displays used on DLP TVs.

The model indicated uses what is called a Optical Light Engine, it is a very expensive part and likely is your problem---not much else will cause this trouble.

Let me know if you have questions.

Small blue dots clustered when the screen is dark, near the projection point.

Hi , it seems you are experimenting a light engine problem. Here's how your tv works: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZLLHnQ4y-wo Basically there's 3 LCD chips that create the colors and image by blending together. When these chips start to melt you will get those blue spots, pixilation even vertical lines. You will need to replace the light engine. Have a blessed one!

Hello: Unfortuntely the Optics engine will need to be replaced the blue lcd chip is failing, this will get worse as time goes on. Replacing the optics engine is the only solution to repairing this set back to spec's. Most call them Light Engines..This site will give you cost and example of what one looks like.

Blue dot on screen really small but noticable if you know what your looking for wondering if its a problem with the projection or if its a quick fix

If it's a CRT projection TV, it could be a burned spot in the phosphor of the blue crt. If it is a burned spot, I don't beleive there's a fix.

I have two small blue spots on my big screen

you cant remove those spots as they are referred to as 'dead pixels'
im guessing your warranty is already finished, so you'll have to get in touch with the manufacturer and they might be able to give you a few names of places that can fix this in your area.
also, unfortunately, the only way you can prevent anymore would be to stop using that tv. :(

Large dot in the middle of the projected display

there is a burned-in spot on the polerizer light filter for the blue lcd. it makes sure the light is blue coming through, that's why it is black on a blue screen, and yellow when the red and green are the only light showing through. it needs to be replaced. pat # PFiLW0213CEZZ.
