Question about Kenmore 22422 Top Load Washer

Kenmore washer always makes lint on clothes

I think the model # on my washer is actually 110.26422502.

When we wash there is always lint remaining on the clothes after the cycles is complete. I'm sure there is a lint catcher in it somewhere, but don't know where? /How to open it to clean it. Any ideas?

Wash clothes separately whites and light colors together. Darks with liquid detergent. No lint filter on the machine. I have found some powder detergents do not dissolve completely.

Prblems with Kemore washer

Clean your washing machine before your next wash load to be sure there is no lint trapped anywhere in the machine. Fill the tub about half full of water then add a couple of cups of white vinegar to the wash water. Allow it to agitate and then sit there and soak for at least an hour before you empty the machine.
Lint is small fibers from clothing that have come loose from natural wear or laundering. They can build up in washers and wreak havoc on your clothing. The dryer will remove the lint. But with clothing, like dress shirts that are air-dried, this can be a real problem; often requiring multiple washings to remove the lint. Older washers came standard with removable lint traps that could be cleaned. Some would filter the water as it recycled through the washer, while others would require the removal of the center tub support for cleaning.
Newer washers have a self cleaning system that uses a filter to trap the lint and the spin cycle to flush it away. It saves the inconvenience of having to manually clean the filter.
If you have a lint problem, here are a few tips to try:
1) Low water pressure can impede the flushing action of the washer during the spin cycle. Look for pressure variations during filling of both hot and cold water. A kinked or blocked hose can cause this. Check for sediment in the hose as well.
2) Verify that the all of the water is being pumped out of tub and that no restriction in the drain hose exists.
3) Don't wash high lint producing items like socks and towels with your dress shirts.
4) Use a name brand detergent. They have higher quality cleaners and soften the water better, which helps release the bond between lint and clothing, allowing it be flushed away.
5) Don't overload the washer. Your washer needs water and room to remove the lint.
6) Run a wash cycle with a cup of regular white vinegar added. This will help rid your washer of any accumulated lint.
A washer doesn't produce enough lint to have any effect on a septic system, so a separate washer filter is not necessary.

Add a cup of either white or cider vinegar to your washing machine along with the detergent before loading in your clothes to keep lint off.

Sort out all towels and washcloths since they create lint. Put them through a separate wash cycle to keep them from transferring lint to your clothes.

Check the labels on all your clothing to be sure you sort them correctly. Cotton clothing produces lint in the washing machine while polyester clothing picks it up. Wash them at different times to keep the lint off those that are likely to pick it up.

Turn your clothes inside out before putting them into the washing machine to keep them from collecting lint as they go through the wash cycle

Clothes come out covered in lint after washing

Sears top load / direct drive washers don't have specific Lint Filters.

See the Use and Care manual for these washers for hints.

Washing machine lint trap

There is no trap per say. The lint catcher is self cleaning when the water is pumped out. It sounds like you are overloading it and the clothes are hitting the agitator. Operation should be agitation by water movement not beat by the plastic fins, run a wash cycle hot water no clothes to flush things out and try smaller loads.

Need to know if my old washer has a lint filter

The large set of numbers is 81350130.This is the model number and it was at one time preceeded by 110.

The small set of numbers on the bottom right of the tag is C44904453. This is the seriel number.

The small set of numbers on the bottom middle of the tag is 9.8 60 120,
9.8 Amps
60 HZ
120Volts AC

Kenmore washers with the pre code of 110 are Whirlpool products. Many years ago (1986) the new design was elimination of the lint filter. The only way to lessen the effect is to wash linty clothes together and not to overload. While the machine is washing lift the lid and watch the clothes. If they are circulating (appears and disappears)from top to bottom ands remaining in the same general location you are good. If the same item is staying visable all the time and the clothes are just wiggling a little you have too much in there.

My kenmore washer leaves fleece and dirt on my clothes always

Nwanne,
It truly sounds like you have something in the washer that may be trapped.
I would remove the lint trap and make certain it is cleaned. Then check under the rim of the washer between the upper tub and the upper seal area. And lastly, check between the agitator bottom and the tub.
There really isn't any part of the washing machine that will produce "fleece" so I believe you have an article of clothing that is trapped.
Good luck and let me know.

Noise/not draining on spin cycle

I had that problem and it was the drain pump trying to drain but it coulsn't because it had lint, plastic, 3 underwires a looney some costume jewellery stuck in the pump. By the pump underneath you'll see a black plastic boot leading away from the pump. disconnect this and inside you'll find the lint trap and if you dig you'll probably find the culprit that stopping your pump from moving. Put it all back together and Voila!

Kenmore Model #110 washer

They have not been putting lint catchers in washers for 15+ years now. The new method the 110 washers use is by having rough sharp edges on the outside of the basket (where you place your clothes) As the water runs through the holes in the basket lint is caught by these sharp edges. Once the spin cycle begins, the lint is flung to the outer tub and washed down the drain in the house.
