Question about Whirlpool Kitchen Ranges

1 Answer

Hi I have a Whirlpool AKZ151/WH oven, it was set to 190 degrees for ten minutes then it tripped out the R.C.D I guessed it was the oven because when I switched off the red switch the trip would then re-set. I don't know what part of the oven is at fault, I get readings as follows: MOTOR COIL 105.8 OHMS OVEN ELEMENT 28.3 OHMS GRILL ELEMENT 23.3 OHMS THERMOSTAT 1.1K OHMS I'm guessing its the thermostat because I tried it cold and it worked ok. Please help Thanks Phil.

Why does it take 25 minutes to preheat to around 400 degrees ?

If it's a gas range, I'd guess you have a pressure problem at the source. There should be some sort of pressure regulator at the gas tank. It might need adjusting or replacing. In other words, your oven might not be getting enough gas pressure to create a large enough flame. It should take only five or ten minutes to reach 400 degrees.

Oven won't heat

Could help you if you included the brand name and model number.
with out that information everything is a guess. My experience with stoves has been limited as I am a HVAC technician. But, if you check the sensor in the oven, it is most likely defective and needs to be replaced.

Whirlpool gold oven

One must preheat the oven to the desired baking temperature. If the oven is turned on and the food immediately put in to bake, it will take longer to bake the first batch than the second and subsequent batches, because the oven need a few minutes to heat up.

In other words, the oven isn't at 350 degrees the instant you turn it on. It takes about 15 minutes for the oven to reach 350 degrees. I hope this helps.

Hi,
If your electric2_bing.gif oven is not heating then you probably have a bad heating element in your oven. This is not that hard to fix yourself...

My oven heats up, but then does not maintain the temp.

If it has a pilot then I would say the thermal couple is bad. If it has a glow type ignitor then the ignitor is bad.

Whirlpool oven 50 degrees too low

How do you know? Use an oven thermometer to check and leave it in for half an hour after the oven reports hitting temperature. Your manual should have a recalibration method.
