I bought my 42" plasma Vizio 17 days ago and this problem just happened to me. We were watching and it just went off and it won't come back on. The tv clearly has power as the yellow light is on, but this tv simply won't come on. I called Walmart to verify I could return (I can) and they said they have two others that were returned sitting in back. I imagine this is going to force Vizio to do something soon, I can only imagine how many of these things are going to start failing in the years to come.
Had same problem. Replace main board and now works just fine. You need
to take the back off and under the metal cover in the center of the tv is the main board. The
part number should start with 3320-xxxx-xxxx. Don't get confused the power board is on the right side and the interverter is on the left side. You can purchase the
board from Vance Baldwin. vancebaldwin.com sign in as a guest. I will
warn you the cost of the board is high.

Please check the power outlet. Try changing to a different power outlet. Look for jammed on/off switch on remote or on control panel of TV. If nothing works, better refer it to a qualified service technician.
Try plugging the tv in a different outlet in the strip. Maybe the outlet it was plugged in during the surge got fried. I would bet thought the fuse on the power supply has blown and needs replaced. You will have to take the back cover off of the tv to find the power supply. Good Luck!!!! Hope this helps.
I replaced 3 capacitors and fixed this problem. They were 1-10v 1000uF and 2- 10v 3300uF electrolitic board mount capacitors. Easy to spot on the power board, the tops were bulged up. $5.54 later it works perfectly now.
First try plugging the tv into another wall outlet, see if the one its in now is off. Make sure the ac cord is well fitted into the tv and the wall outlet. If still no power (and no warranty left on the tv) remove the back cover and check the fuse if blown replace it. If the fuse is good then the power supply board needs to be tested. If you know someone who's technically savy let me know I'll walk them through some testing steps to find the problem. Get back too me..
This is the best I can do over the internet.......
Try unplugging the tv and holding down the power button for 30 seconds than pluuging it back in and if it does not come back on the tv will need a repair to the power supply, just call tech support and make sure to have the serial number and the reciet handy so they can get you registered on the support system. Hopefully your tv is still under the one year mark than the repair will be free if not it can get expensive fast. Me personnaly have worked for vizio for about a year now and honestly this is a very common problem with theses tv's.
My best guess is to check for blown fuses or the power board when bad inside the TV.
If that doesn't work, looks like you'll have to pay a repair shop to find out what's really going on.
Sorry I can't help you further.
