D-Link AirPlus Xtreme G DI-624 Router setup

When i type the link (http://192.168.0.1/) into my browser i am prompt with a box asking for a username and password. I was told to use 'admin' as the username and leave the password field blank, so i did. The box just re-appears asking for the username asnd password again. i've tried all sorts of ways and it will not work... am i doing anything wrong? i just want to access my router and the page just will not load!!! Plz help!!!

i come across people who had the same problem. Typing 'user' instead of
'admin' worked (it accessed my router) but i can't change any settings
because i didn't log in as 'admin', so i think it might be a problem
with the password. i have reset my router twice with no luck, turned
off my AVG Internet Security 8 with no luck. I have never run a set up
disc because the only disc to come with the router was a driver for the
    usb adapter i use. Grrrrrr!

I'm having the exact same problem.....
I just wanna clear something up... What do I type in when I go to
192.168.0.1? When do I reset or whatever? I Have to delete Norton Anti Security Virus?? This is a used router I got off ebay so it doesn't have manuals or install instructions or the ethernet cords but I have ethernet cables.... Do you need specific ones or any?

    FRUSTRATING!!!!!

My router was working fine. I couldnt remember my password so I could connect other computers to the signal so I reset it via the hole int he back. I type in admin as instructed but instead of going to the wizard like it should - and has done in the past I just get the user/password box again...

Hi Alex - Don't rate this yet please. Are you just setting up this router for the first time? If it is, try resetting it. Put the end of a paper clip in the hole marked reset on the back . Leave the router plugged in. The lights will go off and on as the router resets itself. Try this and let me know what happens. Thanks.

Also - if this is the first time setting up, if you have a internet security program such as Norton's, it can interfere with getting in. Try disabling it while you're setting up your router. And use all lower case for the user name.

Yo Alex - I asked you not to rate yet. I needed to know what happened when you tried that. We can't always fix everybody without trying things and then knowing what happened. It's just like calling tech support. They'll say try this, what happened and so on. You never told me is this the first time setting up the router? Is this router new? Do you have the blue and yelow cables that came with it? ( see, if ya just wait, I can fix ya or tell you if the router's bad) Answer these questions please sir. Thanks.

It only means that its not the password that it's using right now. do you remember running the setup cd that came with your router? If you did, do you remember putting a password? that is the password that you need to put in.

Hope this one helps. Just reply to this post in case you will still have a problem.

How do I get my router to work on a new computer at a new house? It's an airplus xtreme g wireless router. I can't remember the username and password.

With the D-link on find the reset hole - it is the size of a pin hole. Take a straightened Paperclip, poke it in the hole for reset for 3 seconds. Then go to the pc and with the unit hooked up. Open a browser window - clear the address bar - type in 192.168.1.1 - then leave the username open and type admin in the password box - click ENTER and there you are. I suggest you read -read - read the entire instructions too.
PLEASE RATE ME UP - I NEED THE VOTE - THANKS.
Best of it

hold the reset button for 10 seconds then let it sit till the lights stop flashing. then you'll be able to log into the router w/ the default user/password which I believe is admin/password. the ip should be reset to 192.168.1.1 so type http://192.168.1.1 in your browser to log in.

If that won't work it only means that it's already been changed you just reset the router by pressing the reset button for 30 seconds.
