Have you tried this?

Setting up your network printer with the peer-to-peer method With this method, the printer driver is fully installed on each client computer. Network clients retain control of driver modifications. The client computer handles the print job processing.

  1. Follow the instructions on the Lexmark 810 Series Setup sheet to install the hardware and software on the host computer.
  2. Make sure the host computer is shared. See Sharing the printer.
  3. From the client computer, insert the printer software CD.
  4. Follow the instructions on the client computer screen.
  5. Select USB cable when asked how the printer is connected to your computer.
  6. Select Peer to Peer when asked how the printer is connected to the network.
  7. Repeat steps 3 through 6 for each of the client computers.

Can't connect wirelessly to a lexmark x4850

Try:
  1. write down the MAC address of your Lexmark,
  2. log into the router and reserve an IP address with that MAC
  3. Setup the Wireless parameters (SSID, Encryption to WPA or WPA2 Personal, assign a Pass Phrase you can remember. Then save the config and reset the router.
  4. on the Lexmark console, navigate to wireless settings and configure with the matching parameters as set in step 3.
  5. If the wireless connection is matched and connected, open up Internet Browser and type in the IP address in Step 2
  6. It should have a web-interface allowing you to customize it.
  7. Install the printer with the driver disc but should now look for a Networked option. or simply Add or Change the Port of your existing Printer's Properties.

If the printer itself is wireless, it does not need to recognize your wireless computer network. Call Lexmark to walk you through proper installation. Lexmark's manuals are not adequate regarding setup, in my opinion.

Lexmark X4850 Wireless wont connect

Had a similar problem with my router, which was a 2WIRE router (furnished by AT&T - I have Uverse). Fixed it by going to the router's GUI (mine is 192.168.1.254), click on "View the home network". On the right side of the resulting screen, there is a section titled "wireless settings". Under that, click on "edit settings". Enter the login information (the default password is on a tag on the router). The next screen is "Configure the Wireless Network". Scroll down to the bottom and click on "Rescan". When I did this, my X4850 miraculously connected and started working.
