Question about Whirlpool RF380LXPS Electric Kitchen Range

Whirlpool Gold Accubake self-cleaning gas oven door lock solenoid

Model number is YGW395LEGB3 (Canada). When I press CLEAN and START, the door lock latches and unlatches continuously and noisily (at about 2 cycles per second) until I press END. How can I fix this?

Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the quick response! I looked at the assembly and saw that the microswitch works. It's a double-pole switch but only one side is used. I took a picture of it and a video of the action. I don't understand yet why it cycles.

Can you be more specific about how to find the short and fix it? Thanks

I didn't get a response to my request for a more specific suggestion about how to find the short. I thought that paying the $10 fee would help to get the problem solved.

Describe how to access the self cleaning feature on the accubake oven and how long does it take?

Press the "Auto Clean" or "Precise Clean" button depending on the control type of your range. Then press start. The oven should lock and start the self-cleaning cycle. The cycle is usually 3 hours from start to finish and cannot be stopped once it has started heating. The range gets extremely hot and causes the inside of the oven to act like a catalyst to burn the grease. It will create smoke and odor depending on how dirty the inside of the oven is. Make sure to leave the exhaust fan on above the range to remove some of the heat. And definently do not do the cleaning cycle on a hot summer day!

I have an electric wall-mount double Whirlpool self cleaning accubake oven. Can't fnd my manual, so I don't have the model number. It is 9 years old. Put on self clean feature, and it shorted out, and...

If you can see through a grill just above the door, then you might can see the lock linkage, and get something to push the linkage over (be sure to disconnect power first.).

If you can't, you'll need to pull the unit out from the cabinet and access it from the top.

The problem is often a thermal fuse in the top of the oven. But if you can provide more detail info on the oven, I can investigate further.

According to the manufacturer's website you should only need to Press and hold the "Lock" key for 5 seconds. A single tone will sound and the "Loc" will disappear off the display.
