Flash symbol & green circle next to it...

I accidently dropped my camera yesterday and now I'm having problems. 1st off, the red light is on. 2nd, when I try moving the camera or attempt to take the picture, I hear the lens making noises, the camera beeps and then I see the flash icon as well as a green circle next to it, appear on the screen. It wont let me zoom in or out as well, but it still will let me take a picture. Its weird. Please help me! I've only had this camera for about 8 months and I love it! I dont wanna have to buy another one!! Thanks!

Hi groovychica.
I like that name.
Dropping the camera is the the number 1 reason for digital camera failure due to the delicate lens assembly's.
Unfortunately it will probably cost you more to fix, than replace.
You can check this site for a repair shop that will give you a repair quote, but you won't like it, sorry.

Do not buy a used camera on eBay as it may have been dropped also.( new is OK) It happened to me
Try Pricewatch or Amazon, I have purchased a few from both sites and found some very good deals for my friends. You can also check the Olympus online store, They often have some awsome prices on clearance models.

The good news is that the prices on the Olympus FE series
has dropped ( no pun intended ) considerably, especially last years models, like yours.
I wish I could have been more helpfull.
Best regards Paul

    Hiya groovychica
    Here's your link... or
Consumer Division Tech Dept. 800-622-6372 8 AM to 7 PM EST
    Mon to Fri.
They do have a trade in program for broken cameras..
A FE-230 is $139.00 + tax Free shipping and they throw in a free 3 year warranty that's worth $60.00 alone. But it won't cover Dropped Cameras : )

How do i get the flashed turned on

First, check to make sure you're not in the macro mode. There's a slide switch on the end of the camera, near the SD card slot. Slide the switch away from the flower toward the mountain to take it out of macro mode. The flash won't fire in macro mode.

Then, if the flash still doesn't fire, take a look at the flash mode. Press the up-arrow button to bring up the flash menu. If it's currently set in the lightning-bolt-in-a-circle-with-a-slash-through-it symbol, you've got the flash turned off. Set it to the lightning-bolt-and-"A" for automatic flash or the lightning-bolt for forced flash.

If the flash still doesn't fire, then it's broken.

I have a easy share c533 and thought it had capability of the flash NOT going off - apparently i am hitting the red eye button - it looks like a flash zaggy arrow pointing down - what is this where is the...

The lightning bolt is the fill-flash symbol. Red-eye reduction is the eyeball symbol. Flash off is the lightning bolt in a circle with a slash through it. There's also an auto flash mode, represented by a lightning bolt with the letter "A".

Repeatedly press the flash button on the top of the camera to cycle through the flash modes.

How do I disable the flash on my camera?

Look at the thumb pad on the back of your camera (see picture below, courtesy of The uppermost part of it acts not only as an up key in the menu selections, but in shooting modes controls the flash (as per the lightning symbol next to it). With the camera turned on and in automatic mode (the green camera icon on the mode selector dial) just press the flash button and look at the screen. Eventually you'll get an icon of a lightning flash behind a red circle with a bar across it, this disables the flash.

Note that if you have any of the other shooting modes selected then the flash may still operate as in those modes everything is pre-selected by the camera with no or few override options.

I hope this fixes your problem, please take a moment to rate my free answer.

My flash isnt working on my A835 camera and i have only had it for 6 months

Check the flash mode that your camera is set to. The flash modes are: Auto, Red-Eye Reduction, Forced Flash, No Flash, Slow Synchro, and Red-Eye plus Slow Synchro. You might have the flash mode set such that your camera detects that the lighting doesn't require the flash mode selected. You can try manually overriding the flash mode by pressing left on the circle function button next to the LCD view screen. If you are still unable to manually turn the flash on, try changing the shooting mode with the mode select dial on top of the camera, then if necessary repeat the flash override step mentioned above. Repeat until successful. There is also the possibility that the flash is malfunctioning, but that is less likely than a setting issue. Let me know how you make out.

Will not take pictures

SAF is single auto focus and would not be the cause of this malfunction. try pressing shutter button a little harder and make sure that you press it fully down. if not try initializing settings. go to menu then go right to setup to find initialize.

Flash Not Working/Picture Not Taking Unless Flash Turned Off

well u can´t do much, it needs to have the board to be replaced. normally the repair centre just repair it, and if it is under warranty they will do it for free, probably the store was the one saying that u drop it to get some money.
