Try cleaning the paper pick-up mechanism, the wheels and feed rollers and everything in the paper feed path with isopropil alcohol, available at most drug stores. It is also used for cleaning video recorders etc.

My HP 1280 printer does print black and white text

Could it just be that the black cartridge has run out? If not, try and clean the print heads. You should be able to do this in the printer options in Windows. It is more than likle that the black nozzle is blocked.

Printer won't pick up the paper in the tray to print. Keep getting out of paper message

First check if the feed rollers are 'Slick" with paper dust, if they are ,clean then with 409 on a cloth rag, and scrub till u dont see the white paper dust on the rollers, let the rollers dry, then reset the printer, by turning it off. then turn it back on ,reinstall the paper and begin printing again.

I a having problems printing business cards on my HP PSC 1210V

The cards are likely slipping on the pick up. I assume you are using tray 1 not tray 2. you can try cleaning the pick roller use water and wipe. If thie condition improves you have found the problem and should replace or have the roller replaced.

seems like the pick up roller and seperation pad are dirty or worn.try cleaning them with nail polish remover. the roller is located at the bottom of the printer where the leading edge of the paper is the seperation pad sits under the pick up roller.
