Question about Philips MX5100VR System

1 Answer

Playing a dvd with my system

This player came as a sound system so i hate to just trash it. its about 3 or 4 years old now and when i play a movie, it gets about 3/4 of the way thru and just freezes. when it does you can here the laser clicking and making noises. i've tried disc cleaners, the laser cleaner discs and even took the cover off and cleaned it with alcohol. didn't help. does it sound like a problem thats fixable at a reasonable cost or should i start shopping?

thanks
mike

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

No English language on DVD 's

Bought a new unit. The old unit was a surround sound system in which the previous owner removed the speakers. I wasn't aware of the problem but found out that it would not allow it to play on Dolby 5.1...It would only play DVD's on channel 2, therefore no english etc. Thanks for your help!!!

Your sysytem may read some dvd VS mine may read some of your's that you system dont reads, you will not find a unit" DVD" will deformat the protection copy rights. DVD player will not play Disney made movies

I don't know what BOLT is, as I fixed my last DVD player 6 years ago at Sony. I think the Disney Format is Newer than your DVD player can read.

I remember Sony had a $5000.00 when new DVD player that was the first generation of DVD's. We would get them in for repair and the guy would say "My Radio Shack $99.00 plays all my DVD's but this $5K FIVE YEAR OLD unit won't play them....

There was NO fix for the problem. The New DVD's were beyond the capability of the 5 year old unit.

SO.. Is the Disney DVD a Blue Ray Disk? Or a new format that your older DVD can't read?

Computer will no longer read. play or even acknowledge dvds or cd

Try this:

How to fix the CD player

1. Go to System/Library/Caches and trash the folder com.apple.kernelcaches
2. Go back to System/Library and trash the file Extensions.kextcache
3. Restart.
If that doesn't work, try trashing this file:
~Home/Library/Preferences/CD Info.cidb
That is the way its done

ILO DVDR05 recorded DVD's freeze

Burn your DVDs at tow positions slower than what the system and discs say. It sounds as if there is a huge amount of error being introduced during the write process. Unfortunately, the old discs can only be recovered with an external program like Zero Assumption Recovery or the like....accordianman

New dvd movie will not play

I rented Rush Hour 3 from blockbuster along with Woodcock and both did not play on my Sylvania DVD player. I did take them and put them on my computer and their was a page that came up INTERACTUAL
ENHANCED FEATURES
This DVD is enhanced with interactive features designed exclusively for use on a computer.
PLAY DVD with enhanced features (that prompted a download)
or PLAY DVD without enhanced features and you can play the DVD movie on your small home computer screen.
I believe that the DVD producers have added the ENHANCED FEATURES to be used on a computer and in so doing they do not work at least not on the Sylvania DVD players.
