The CRTs have coolant in them, they also have a history of leaking the coolant onto the circuit boards causing the set to shut down. If you need more help let me know.

    you would have to look at the circuit boards for evidence of a thick, pasty substance on the components.

TV will not turn on
you either have leaky capacitors near the voltage regulators, cooling fluid leaking on the boards, and/or bad solder connections on the yoke plugs. this model is known for all 3 problems, but you probably need a qualified tv repairman to fix this right.

This model is known for the front control panel going bad. You could unplug it, control panel cable, from the front of TV, by removing the speaker grill, and just use the remote.
