hi, i have the same problem as well, in the printer and faxes there, the epson tm-u220 printer also show the not available status. But when i try the print test page and it works. I'm also trying to test printing from the notepad, the document was queue and show in printing status, but it doesn't print anything from the printer.
My printer is parellel port, but i'm using the parellel convert to usb cable connect to my laptop. Anyone also same scenario with me?? Thanks.

Print the self-test, push the feed botton while powering on...
you can see there the serial interface...
baud rate, data bits, parity, stop bit etc...
then go to the printer and faxes,
right click the epson driver and click properties...
go to the ports window...
click on the epson tm u220 reciept.
click configure port...
adjust the baud rate as same as in the self test...
it works...

The Epson TM-U220 Receipt printer uses a Windows Generic driver, not an APD driver or anyother. If you install anyother driver, chances are, you'll end up with it not printing and showing a status of NOT AVAILABLE or USER INTERVENTION REQUIRED. So to get it to work, follow these steps of installing the Generic Driver
1. Uninstall any APD or other drivers you had tried to use for the printer
2. Click on add a printer in Printers and Faxes (XP)

3. Go thru the Wizard, installing it as a Local Printer and choosing COM1 Serial Port and when it comes to choosing the manufacturer and model of the printer, select GENERIC as the manufacturer and GENERIC /TEXT ONLY as the printer, finish up with the remainder of steps in the wizard
4. Print a test page..........and that's it

It should print without any problems

Unable to install Epson TM-U220B[U220 with UB-U02III usb interface] on Windows 7 AND XP!

Hi!

Are you using a third party USB adapter or a USB interface? On the self test page that you printed does it say USB connection or something that will say about USB? or does it say parallel or serial connection? try to check the dip switches setting if its configured properly. visit epsonexperts.com site for more info.

I am unable to print with the printer TM-T88 III. the status of this printer is 'Not Available'. OS is Xp , and i install the driver APD_412.e. Please advice, george

Your printer is probably set to Off Line. You'll need to go to Start-Printers and Faxes, and in the new window right-click the Epson TM-T88III icon and from the popup menu select the Use Printer Online setting.
If this doesnt work check to see if the USB cable is loose both at the PC end and at the printer end. While you're at it, see if the printer shows any signs of life (any lights on, any messages on the LCD)? There just may be an issue of loose power cable, so you may want to check that also.

EPSON TM-T88iii printer 'Not Available'

I've had this issue many times. The only resolution is to completely uninstall the printer using the epson utility then re-install. This solution is only temporary as it will go to unavailable within 2 or 3 days.

Epson TM on Windows XP with serial

you need to use the printer cable that was design for the printer. if you don't have the cable anymore, then you have to take the commercial cable apart and reconfigure in accordance to page 43 of the manual call outs.

Besides the cable, the printer software is only good for Windows 2000. Windows XP will not work unless Epson provide you with the printer driver. (which I did not see on the website).

all in all if you must use this printer with Windows Xp. you need to create a file in Autoexec.bat to enable the printer and allow the USB to connect to the printer.

that is going take time to do. if you need help on that. please post the request here.

Thanks

Cant print even test page

hit "start" and go to Printers and Faxes. In the side bar, choose add a printer, follow the instructions in the wizard to automatically, install and use the printer. Also check and make sure that you have any software that comes with the printer, as some of them need it in order to run. If all else fails, uninstall the printer by selecting it in the Printer and Faxes, right clicking and select DELETE. Then follow the above steps to reinstall it.
