in the side where you load the paper you can locate a lever that is lifted when you place the paper. just try to get hold of it. move it in either directions and then restart your printer without paper.
and once again with paper. everything will be fine
Did you try moving the paper thickness lever (blue lever on top of the print cartridge holder)? It should be all the way to the left when you start--if it needs to be adjusted the printer message will let you know.
I just bought one of these printers and got the same message when trying to print from my digital camera... All you have to do is press the OK button on the printer!!! Don't feel too bad.. there is no documentation that explains this.. I only found this after I started frantically pressing all the buttons on the printer out of frustration.. Good one Canon.
At the head you said 'paper thickness position'and then you seems to have ignored that and did all the other things.
Is there an adjustment for paper thickness, a lever perhaps.
It does seem to be with the paper feed or paper presence detection.
Take a look around, is there something stuck in the paper feed track?
Can you have pass a piece of paper through without it rucking up?
Do these things see what happens

OK, first try resetting th printer. This sometimes works the first time and corrects a lot of issues. Switch it off, take out all paper, check for jams with a torch right down back and open cover and check ther too. Once you are sure there are no paper jams (look really carefully they can be tiny!) unplug all cords and cables. Plug all back in turn it on, and try printing again. Post back if no luck and i will further assist.
