Check the condition of the top pressure discs and the bobbin case tension. Check for wear in the hook - is the bobbin case seated correctly? Check the tension spring in the bobbin case. I doubt timing has anything to do with the problem. Unless the hook's picking up the top thread a little late, thereby "spearing" the thread. The hook could be catching the thread loop too late. Sounds to me like there's a parts or a small adjustment problem. You don't mention thread or needle size. That's another area of concern at times.

Contact manufacturer on line. They should be able to supply manual for you to use. These can usually be downloaded at no charge.

The timing is out on my consew 226R-1, how do I fix it?

Safety clutch may be disengaged. Push and hold down the right hand button on bed of machine and turn handwheel away from you until it comes to a stop. Still holding the button down, force the handwheel away from you until you hear a loud click. Release button and now see if you can pick up needle thread.

I have a consew 225 I think and when I try to bring the thread up from the bobbin the thread from the needle goes down and around the bobbin to bring up the bobbin thread and catches. It will not pass

Your machine probably needs to be adjusted and timed. But make sure you clean under the bobbin area before you try again... or take it to a machine pro

The book on my consew 226r-2 says to adjust the screw to tighten or loosen tension on the bobbin, I can't see a screw, where is it?

It is usually a little tiny screw on what holds the bobbin in and where the thread passes through the bobbin. (The holder...not the metal or plastic bobbin spool of thread...it's sometimes called a shuttle to avoid confussion.) When you tighten or loosen the screw on the bobbin holder it puts more or less pressure on that metal hook the bobbin thread passes through.

THREAD KEEPS BREAKING

I learned there are right twist threads and left twist threads. After checking all other reasons for the thread to break it might just be the wrong twist on the thread. Sounds silly but after hours of trying every thing else I felt even worse that it was just the wrong thread.

Tension problem, consew 225

The bobbin should have a thin metal peice that the thread goes under to create tension, the screw closes to end the thread comes out of is the one to adjust. If they were sewing with a light thread on the machine the tension on the bobbin is probably set pretty tight loosen it a little at a time, turning the screw counter clockwise. You might need to check your top tension also if it is showing a knot on the bottom. The bottom is to tight or the top is to loose.

Thread breaks off

Where does it break? You change tension at the top via the tension discs the thread passed through, and at the bottom by adjusting the small screw on the bobbin case - the screw on the front part of the spring. Thread size matters as well as needle size. For everyday upholstery I use #69 nylon thread, and "G" bobbins.
If the thread's breaking at the hook you may need to adjust timing. But most commonly thread breaks because of improper tension, threading, needle or thread size.

Threads breaking

Go to www.consew.com and click on manuals/224. The 224/225/226 are all the same. Or, go to www.singer.com and click on manuals for 111w/G155, or 211/w/G155. They're the same machines. Or, click on google and enter the search terms. There are a lot of places to get service manuals. Consew's are free. You may have to pay a few buck from other places but they aren't expensive.
