MacBook I am a tad confused on purchasing windows xp (needed for work) to install on my Macbook. Do I need to purchase a special one for Mac or is it just the normal Microsoft Windows XP at any retail store?

If you purchase a program called Boot Camp, VMWare Fusion, or Parallels you can load both XP and OSX to run dually or separate.

I purchased WebPlus X2 last year. I recently purchased a MacBook Pro. I need this software for a Mac. Can you help?

Serif's website says that the system requirements for WebPlus X4 (apparently X3 is no longer current) are:
  • Pentium PC with DVD/CD drive and mouse
  • Microsoft Windows® XP (32 bit), Windows®Vista (32 or 64bit), or Windows® 7 operating system
So the first thing to note is that there is no Macintosh version of the software.
That having been said, given that you own a MacBook Pro, you can install Windows on it, and run the software that way.For example, the product at
ComboDealDetails.aspx
includes a discounted copy of both Windows 7 and Parallels, which will allow you to run Windows 7 right alongside your Mac OS. The solution will cost you $140, but it is a very workable, very nice solution when you are forced to use PC software for a course, etc., but own a Mac.

There is something wrong with the USB reader. XP and Mac OS should see it automatically. I would return it and purchase a different one.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.

Check to see if the microphone works on the macintosh side of the computer, chances are it won't, microphone usage on Macintosh computers has been hit and miss, sometimes the microphone needs a pre-amp or USB interface like a Griffin iMic adapter.
