Question about ASUS P5K Deluxe/WiFi-AP, iP35, S 775, PCI-E , DDR2 1066/667/800, SATA II, SATA RAID, ATX Motherboard

Powering up I have an ASUS P5K3 Deluxe WiFI-AP motherboard, it is installed inside an Antec Titan 650 Server case. All parts are brand new. I cannot get the system to power up. I have a question about the motherboard power connection. Part of the connection plug on the motherboard (4) is covered by a black plastic cover. I don't know where to plug in the 8 pin connector. Please help! Donnie Martindale keepsakevisuals@charter.net 817-237-9955

You need to remove the cap from 8-pin EATX12V connector and connect 8-pin EPC +12V power plug from your P/S, otherwise it will not work. Your power supply should support 8-pin EATX12V. If you P/S comes with 4-pin connector only you just use your 4-pin open spot and leave the cap on.

The problem - I guess - is that this CPU is not recognised correctly by the board. To solve it, just update to the latest BIOS, using either AsusUpdate or manually from www.asus.com

Have you installed RAM? If not the machine will not boot. You may also need to enter the BIOS setup to set the CPU and DRAM voltages and multiplyers etc. Follow the instructions in the manual for setting up the CPU info in the BIOS. Are you sure your PSU has enough guts to run the setup? Many times have i seen setups fail because a cheap power supply has been overstretched.
