Question about Olympus DS-30 Digital Voice Recorder

1 Answer

Sound blaster conflict

I have an Olympus voice recorder and installed a sound blaster audigy sound card which works fine until I try to play back a DSS file from my voice recorder. It knocks out the card completely and I lose my external speakers. Have to reinstall the sound card to get them back again.

Wow I have an audigy card and a Olympus and never had that problem before.

Goto soundblaster.com and make sure the audigy drivers are updated. There is an update to the olympus software available on their website as well.

If the volume is up too high on your recorder when it is playing back, it may shut the speakers down as a safety precaution especially if your sound card has a limiter to it.

I have a sound blaster audigy 24 bit 7.1 sound card . it worked fine on windows xp but when i inserted the card in the slot for my new computer on windows 7 it says that no card was found :/ when i install...

Move the card to a different pci slot on the motherboard. It may have a conflict with another device. Make sure there is no power to the pc when you do this. If you still have the problem after trying all the slots then i suggest you empty all of them and just try the audio card on its own. If it works then fit the card/s you removed into other slots. good luck.

My audigy 'player' card does not work due to 'sound font' failure

Try out this driver, they're supposed to be alot better sounding than creatives. Your going to need to go into control panel and remove anything related to Sound Blaster Live! or Audigy, then head into device manager and uninstall the card. You then can go ahead with the install of the new driver.

Dell Dimension 4600 creative sound blaster card

It sounds like you may have broken your sound card. I had the same problem when I tried to digitise my old 4-track recordings.
I tried the broken card in another PC, found that it was not working, so I went out and bought a new sound card.

I have a creative audigy Creative Labs Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Sound Card and Creative 7.1 surround sound speakers. When I was using XP all 7 speakers worked perfectly. Now with my newer Vista machine,...

Uninstall all sound drivers for the card. Delete all folder and use search to locate everything related to the sound card. Remove card , turn comp on w/o card. Turn off reinsert card.
Should fix it.
Vista has many, many issues like this.
If you have more types of sound listed in "SOUNDS" delete all but Audigy.
Re-install drivers AFTER you get ALL NEW VISTA UPDATES>

Make sure that memory resident programs have been disabled. Defrag your hard drive as well so that audio files you are recording are continuous files on your drive.
