Question about RCA OPAL M4001 MP3 Player

2 Answers

HELP am writing to report a problem with my Opal M4002A MP3 player. I think it might be broken and would like to request a new player be provided. Of course we can negotiate this. This was purchased on 03-25-08. Earlier this week, I was listening to it and suddenly it made a shrieking, screeching noise and quit working. It wont even charge. I have tried different USB ports, I have reinstalled from the disk. I have checked for problems in the cord. nothing works. I took it back to the retailer where I purchased it (WalMart). Their policy for returns of MP3 Players is an astonishing and incredible 15 days only. I hope your return policy is more realistic. Please contact me with your solution. Thank you

Seeing as it was a hardware problem not caused by you or the media you installed on it, you can call RCA and explain your problem. If memory serves me correctly, they also have a message board on their website. I dislike calling any sort of tech support (because almost every big company's tech support is based in India), but try anyway.

What song service supports rca opal m4002a mp3 player. napster doesn't work?

Not iTunes. Not Napster.
You could try Rhapsody's MP3 ONLY service - new!
Limewire works, but make sure you anti-virus program is up-to-date.

The key is to use Mp3 format only, and most music services have switched to WMA format.

Opal rca mp3 m4002a TROUBLE!

Disable the auto-sync option in Windows Media Player, and then delete the songs again from Windows Media Player. If auto-sync is not disabled, then those songs will never go away.

RCA Opal M4002A Need screen

I have an Opal 2GB mp3 player just like yours and I accidentaly busted the screen on it, so I e-mailed the RCA company, they e-mailed me back telling me that I voided the warranty, and I would have to send it back and pay 55 dollars to get a new one, because they don't sell the individual screens.

I hope this helps.

Mine didn't recognize either, so what I did is go into the device manager, find the opal in the listings, double-click, disabled the device, re-enabled it, at which time it shows that there's a firmware error. I then re-installed the driver from the cd, unplugged the opal, plugged it back in, and for whatever reason, the computer then recognized the opal as a mass storage device, instead of a portable music player. The computer now sees it everytime, and all I have to do is drag and drop any files I want into the opal. Works like a charm. Hopefully RCA will provide an updated firmware program in the near future, but this might work for you for now. Good luck!

Help with pictures?

In order to add pictures, you need to go to the Media>Pictures folder (go to My Computer1.gif>Opal (should be listed under Audio Devices as Opal with an icon that looks sort of like an old Minidisc player - you might have to scroll down to find the icon once you click on "My Computer in Win XP), and add pictures from your collection.
P.S. Please rate accordingly...
Thank you
