Panasonic microwave start button

Hi
I have a Panasonic microwave (NN-T695SF) which is just about 2 years old. Suddenly yesterday it's start button has stopped functioning. All the other buttons seem to work but the start button. Please help!

Thanks, atleast I think I know the problem now. If I could open the screws of the outer body then I would have looked inside. However, it looks like I will need to get this to a technician. Thanks a lot.

All button but the start button appear to work. Took it apart, tested the switches, there was continuity on both switchs, so it could be the board, but where do I get a price and availability on such a thing?

You may have a sticky door switch. Try a simple "slamming" of the door, don't over do it, just a little harder than normal. This may help pop the plunger in the switch back up. The switch could have also become loose and moved out of its adjustment.
If this does not help, a technician should save you time and money with this sometimes perplexing problem.

This is usually caused by either a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or a problem on the control panel or keypad.

Ovens are designed (like dryers) so they don't run with the door open.

If you or someone you know decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and disassembly information at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

Please feel free to contact me directly if you need more help.

That sounds like the Magnetron/Invertor has failed and taken out the mains fuse.
The Invertor is not user serviceable.
Call an authorised repair department.

Hi Judith, I am Kelly

If this has a 1 year warranty it is time to make that call.

Otherwise see this link about H97 or H98 codes: http://www.applianceaid.com/micro_faultcodes.html#panasonic

There are a few things that can cause the problem, none of them cheap repairs. The Magnetron filament, Control board and Inverter are the top 3 other than a losse connection.

I tried running the Model number NN-SN9688 and it does not cross. See Panasonic link here: http://www2.panasonic.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/PNAEndecaSearchCmd?N=779832097&Ne=&No=0&Nr=12001&Ns=&Ntk=SupportSearch&URL=vSupportSearch&cmTag=true&catalogId=11017&storeId=15001&cm_sp=SiteSearch-_-SupportSearch-_-SupportHome&Ntt=NN-SN9688&x=28&y=20

I did not go to Panasonic Global and try other countries. I just did a USA search.

Thanks for choosing FixYa.

Kelly

It is actually NN-T695SF, it will not warm food. It powers up then goes dim, then powers up then goes dim, it keeps doing that. Food comes out cold.

Hi, if it is an inverter microwave and the problem is cycling every 2-3 seconds, my experience is the magnetron has most likely gone short circuit and the inverter board is shutting down to protect itself and then restarting, hence your symptom.
DO NOT try to test this unless you are experienced with extra high voltages - the voltages present/stored in a microwave even when powered off can kill you.

My NN-T695 Panasonic microwave oven starts up for two seconds then cuts out before doing any warming?

I'm having the same problem with the same model microwave. It has taken hard use for a long time, but now it will (sometimes) start and then stop after a second or two. I think it's a loose connection, because a couple of times I got it to work by rapping on the back or side.

Microwave stopped working suddenly, the sreen reads H97

If your oven is out of warranty then i would suggest just getting a new one.

The code is for a bad controller circuit, and it would cost almost as much to fix it as it would to buy a new one.
