Question about Toshiba Satellite A105 Notebook

Help with my A105 toshiba notebook.

Hello. You recently gave me advice on using an eraser to clean the contacts on the ram. I did so and there was no difference. So I bought more ram and I am still having the same problem. Do you have any other suggestions on what I could do?

yes i am ready. thank you for helping me. My computer would start randomly, sometimes after waiting a period of time and other times it would start right after it would turn off. Nothing popped up on my computer after I installed the new ram, however my maximum commit charge and memory had increased when I checked the windows task manager. Thank you for your assistance, I will try to update my graphics display adapter, even though I have auto updates on and I manually downloaded and installed them a few months back.

I will try to assist you in defining the root cause of your issue. OK?
This may require you responding to my questions and my answering you back. It may take awhile to nail it down although I'm pretty certain what is the root cause and it has nothing to do with RAM. Sorry you were inadvertently misdirected and you spent more money on RAM you probably didn't need. I'm sure the other tech had the best intentions.

1.) was the new Ram you added recognized? That is to say, did you see a notice that System Memory had changed press F1 to continue after you installed the new Ram module?

2.) I read your original post and when you do get it to work, is that a result of leaving power off for any length of time or swapping Ram modules from one side to another. Or, is there anything else you have done to get it to work, and forgive me here, slaming the cover shut in frustration?

3.) You may need one of two things:
a. A driver update for your graphics display adapter (or did you do that already).
b. the connection from your display to the laptop's mainboard is loose.

Are you ready to start?

I just don't wonder if your power on switch is a bit tricky and works sometimes and not others. The next time it won't startup, try pushing around the button in a circular motion and see if that doesn't cause it to power on, so we can rule the switch out a a problem.

Have you updated your graphic adapter yet? Let me know when you do and if that made any change.

Toshiba Satellite U405-S2824 startup beep code error

The beep you hear is a BIOS Beep Code. The computer's way of telling you something is wrong, and a general area to look into for it.

A short repeated beep over a long period, usually indicates a Ram Memory problem.

Remove ALL power to the notebook. Remove the AC adapter (Charger), and Battery.
Suggest you remove all ram memory modules, and clean the gold plated contact pins at the bottom.

Use a pencil eraser. If using an eraser on the end of a pencil, and not a solid eraser, refrain from letting the metal band touch the contact pins. Reinstall the ram memory module/s.

Reinstall the Battery, then the AC adapter. WAIT 1 minute, then turn the notebook on.

Post back in a Comment as to the results.

My screen started to fade away at first. Then it would have different colour vertical lines. Not it's just completely dark. If I plug in an external monitor, there's no problem. I recently installed 1gb...

I recently had a similar problem and I could tap the outer area of the monitor and it would straighten up. That was until it finally gave out completely. I replaced the screen with one I got off eBay and have not had any problems with it since.

Why is my computer so slow to load anything ,its even slowing my internet speed, i i open limewire and try to do anything online it doesn't even wanna move.

Have your computer always been slow or is it a recent problem?

If it has always been slow, you need to install more ram. Just take your computer to your nearest computer hardware store and they should inform you on what ram you need to buy. They will do it for free.

If this slow pc is a recent problem, you might want to defrag the computer. But this could just as easy be a duplication virus, so it might also help if you update your virus protector and do a full system scan.

My best advice is however to format the computer and install a clean copy of windows.

Hope you can find this helpful.

Kind regards

Toshiba Satellite A105-S4004 memory slot not recognizing memory module

If this is a new module, make sure the specs are the same as the old module. If it is an old module then it is more likely the module has over-heated and died. Try swapping the modules with the different slots and make sure they are seated all the way in the slots. Afetr each time, check the ram in the BIOS settings to see if the BIOS sees the ram installed and not just the Windows system utility. That way we can figure out whether it is hardware or software. If the bios sees the ram and windows does not, then the hardware is fine and it is an operating system problem. If bios does not see the ram then it is hardware....either the stick is bad, the slot has failed or is disables, or it is not properly seated and is not getting good contact. Try cleaning the ram contacts with a Q-tip and alchohol, dry completely, then reseat.

How do you install ram in a toshiba a105-s4344 laptop

I take it that you already have the correct RAM you need. Wiith that, power off your notebook, unplug it, turn it over and your will see the larg cover closer to the right of the notebook. Unscrew the screw to release the memory cover and place it to the side. Be carefull with static when handling your memory card, install the card into any open slot in your notebook. (The memory card will go in the slot at a 40 degree angle and then 'snap' down into place. Replace the memory cover (the large piece you took off at the begininig.) power up you notebook and the new memory should be registered and ready for use. Good Luck.

Toshiba A105 occasional monitor failure.

1. remove the memory and using a pencel eraser, clean the contacts and put them back in. see what happens

2. if problem persists, then try removing the ram (one ram at a time ) and see if there is any improvement.

The goal of this solution is to try to know whether you have bad rams or not. as base on the manifestation that you have indicated, its seems to me that you have a bad ram.

hope i was able to help you in anyway
