The monitor has power board issues it is not your video card. its not dead but it will require some soldering work to repair.

MONITOR HD2200. I TURN IT ON AND THE SCREEN GOES WHITE THEN A FEW VERTICAL COLOR LINES APPEARS AND AFTER A FEW SECONDS IT GOES BLACK.

Hello,

IF YOU HAVE A SOLID BLACK LINE RUNNING VERTICALLY THEN YOU HAVE A FAULTY MATRIX INVERTER. IF CENTRAL THE MAIN VERTICAL INVERTER NEEDS CHANGED. LEFT = LEFT VERTICAL INVERTER RIGHT=RIGHT.........

ANOTHER WAY TO GET THIS FAULT IS WORN OR DAMAGED RIBBON/PLASTIC GOING FROM THE SCREEN MATRIX TO THE INVERTER

Hope this will help out in solving the problem....

Monitor will not display desktop, however, it does display have multi-colored vertical lines throughout.

You have eliminated the CPU/Video card as a problem so you should try changing the video cable.
There is a good chance that the cable is bad if the multi-colored lines you are describing is the "test pattern". So swap out the cable and see if that fixes it. If that doesn't fix the problem and the monitor won't work with another CPU, it looks like you are going to need a new monitor.

The vertical lines/bar are sign of bad T-CON (LCD controller driver) board is bad, it is part of the LCD panel assembly, new screen will be needed, not worth it. You may try reseating the ribbon cable at the panel.

Screen has multi color vertical lines, no discernable image...dead? Does same thing on muliple computers.

Vertical lines from top to bottom is the indication of bad LCD panel. It will get worst.

Colored vertical lines on monitor

Have you unplugged the power cord to the LCD? Let it sit for a minute, then try it. ALWAYS buy a UPS and plug any computer devices into it. Doesn't have to be big, a $50 unit will protect it from dangerous voltage surges.

Black screen

It may be repairable, but you will spend less money to replace it.
You did not mention if this is a CRT or a LCD monitor.
If it is a CRT the Rasters and flyback are faulty causing dead areas on the screen.
If it is a LCD then you are having pixels dying, and it will not last too much longer.
You may want to try it on another computer just to verify that it is not your video card.

May be a manufacture defect or the Screen goes wiped out during transportation.

Vertical lines on left half of screen

The problem is the driver tabs that go from the panel controller board to the panel itself.

This is normally a fatal failure since having it repaired is extremely expensive.

VERTICAL COLORED LINES ON MONITOR

Your panels are dying.
Well more to the point the driver tabs that run the panel are dying and are not going to be cheap to repair for either case.

For the stand alone LCD, it is cheaper to get another one.
For the laptop, find a laptop on Ebay or similar with a dead motherboard and swap out the screens, also gives you spare parts for the laptop. If you goto a repair shop and get a screen it will cost you as much as a new laptop.
