Check the clamp of the cooling fan. If the clamp is not engaged, heat sink didn't take the heat away from the micro processor causing CPU over heating.
sounds like the CPU is overheating. if you feel comfortable open the case and replacing the thermal paste between the processor and the heat sink might do the the job. A tube of thermal past is inexpensive and you jsut need to use a small dab to get the job done.
