Onceturned on, the green light goes on, the touch screen flashes white, then it all turns off.
I have read other posts, but after trying some steps, my DS is still dysfunctional. I noticed a strange thing, which makes me wonder exactly where the problem is located, but if I jam the upper lid far back, I used to be able to get it to turn on, only if the lid didn't move. After quite a few times of doing this, it stopped working at all, and only does the quick power on, power off problem that many people have. I have checked every connector I could access, and checked the wring. All seems fine. I would gladly appreciate any help. Thanks.
Re: Onceturned on, the green light goes on, the touch...

you replaced the inside LCD screen? i guess there is a full story here, but...????? light hours,? you mean with windows open and the screen goes gray?
some monitors and tv's do that, now. called GREEN MODE. turn it off. My stupid TV (LG) goes gray with a reading lamp on. silly to the extreme that. Im sure yours is not with a room light sensor, but do RTM. as you know , the screen is black lighted. and old screens (2005 it is) do get gray and other effects. my old view sonic, (now on server duty, off mostly) has dim and yellow back lamps.and the LCD has age effects. this is all 100% normal for 8 years, full time service, in fact lucky it works at all. truth being.
elaborate what you see better may be we can hone in on the reasons. and the what you touched inside.
The Sony diagnostic routine for 4 blinks indicates it to be a vertical deflection problem.
Did you see a solid horizontal line in the center of the screen prior to it going out? If so, that is a tell tale sign for vertical problems.
basic sony reset below
The STANDBY light will flash if the television detects an issue within the television. Some of these issues can be resolved simply by following the steps below to reset the television.
Turn off the television.
IMPORTANT: For a projection television that uses an internal lamp, wait 5 minutes after turning off the television to allow the lamp to cool before continuing with the following steps.
Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
Turn on the television.
If the issue is still unresolved after following all of the troubleshooting steps, service may be required. Please note the number of times the STANDBY light flashes and relay that information to the service center
Quick answer: 1) Programming steps say 'press clock key to return to current time and day' 2) Use mode button and change between AUTO & RND >> try manual override in each mode 3) Does timer turn lights on-and-off with program, or do they blink too? 4) Swap Black and Red wires 5) Try timer on light in different room, on different circuit breaker 6) Timer might be defective
Longer answer: Woods 59018 manual does not show troubleshooting steps except 'check wiring; switch Red and Black leads; and/or reset programming'
Seems unlikely you could program timer unless timer is wired correctly ... unless there is a short of some kind.
To review wiring. Green goes to bare ground wire. White goes to Neutral white wire (neutral is usually 2 or 3 white wires twisted together and shoved to back of box) Black must connect to Hot from circuit breaker Red must connect to Load (light, fan, motor etc)
How to test wiring: Disconnect timer and set aside. Mark each wire Separate wires in box so they don't touch Use ordinary tester (you can tape tester leads to wood sticks) Turn on power You should have two black wires that were originally connected to switch Test black wires to bare ground > when tester lights up, that is the Hot wire. The other black wire goes to Load
Now you want to find the neutral. Test the Hot black wire to white wires in box. When tester lights up, that is neutral.
If everything checks out, I guess timer is defective.
This is because your bottom LCD screen is faulty. You can buy these quite cheaply off of ebay for around £10 and they are pretty easy to fit. There are lots of guides out there but if you need any more help please post a reply to me here.
Try this if you haven't yet.Take the battery out, read the voltage with a meter,If low your charger is not working. Also if no meter try reinstall batery.Good Luck. DS's are unpredictable, you could not touch it for another month and it will work.
i had the exact same problem, i just fixed it a minute ago by pushing the ribbon cable in farther. make sure you push on both sides of it with your fingernails until it goes all the way in then latch it down.
