Question about HP Compaq nx6125 Notebook

1 Answer

Boot everytime I have a problem with a HP nx6125 laptop which I am hoping that someone may have some info on and may be able to help?: When the power button is switch on, light come on and go out as expected, drives spin and fan starts. Then after a couple of seconds, there is a small click from inside (sounds like HDD) and the fan stops, then after 2 seconds more, fan comes on, then 2 seconds later goes off again, this repeats itself about 15 times. During this on/off of the fan, the HDD light and the DVD drive lights flash in rhythm with the fan going on/off. After the 15 or so cycles, the HDD light and fan both say on. During the whole process from start to finish, the screen is completely dead, even attaching an external monitor doesnt bring anything up.

Sounds like the same problem I have. There is a short term fix (at least for my problem) if you unplug the power supply before you boot (if the battery is dead you may have to charge it up a bit first to allow it to do this) then it sometimes boots normally and, once the windows loading screen flashes up, you can plug the power cable back in again.

MIne seems to be a problem with the power supply as there is another symptom I have noticed - when it is running the power supply gets incredibly hot and this impacts performance. Also the problem seems to occur more when it has had a period of heavy use and it sometimes needs a short time to cool off before it will boot normally at all again. So, I am wondering if replacing the power supply would help.

Either way - motherboard or power supply - it looks like an expensive fix .:(

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

HP compaq nx6125 windows vista 64 bit

http://www.daileyint.com/hmdpc/overheat.htm

This site has a some info on that.
I must say that all laptops get hot but the shutting off is worrisome. Try placing it on a raised surface that does not block the air vents and have a fan or something to circulate some cool air around it.

Ubuntu already have all available drivers inside OS.
If it couldn't find specific driver for your laptop, means it doesn't exist.

Laptop boots to the F10 and F12

this is as if you haven't got an installed operating system and requires it to be installed, but you have to enable your cdrom as the first boot device. Put your O.S disc in and reboot; then press enter to boot up from disc.
