Does the CanoScan LiDE 25 show up in the dropdown?
Hi there, yes I did everything per your instructions, Toolbox is installed and it still says, "release the lock switch, detach I/F cable and reconnect. Scanner driver will be closed" and then after clicking on that it says "Unable to open TWAIN source. Please check connection then restart toolbox" I have been to the Canon site and downloaded driver sites and it says everything is working. but when I go to scan it comes up with the boxes I said before. Quite lost at the moment? Thanks Maureen. PS I have unstalled and reinstalled

I was able to install the CanoScan Toolbox by doing the following: MacIntosh HD --> Library --> CFMSupport --> Get Info. Under 'Sharing & Permissions', I added my name & changed 'Read only' to 'Read & Write' .
Problem now: I can't install the LIDE 30 Scanner Driver. I clicked on the downloaded driver & a box opened. I clicked on ScanGear CS Installer, but that didn't work. I then clicked on 'Into Plug-In' --> ScanGear CS 7.0X --> Choose Application --> CanoScan Toolbox 4.1 --> Plug-Ins, but couldn't continue as the 'Open' tab was greyed out. What should I try? Any suggestions would be appreciated.
I had the same problem..the way to get around this is to open the toolbox and click "Save" instead of "Scan" After you do this you just create a file name and save it into a folder..also make sure you change the "save as type" to JPEG

TWAIN is the type of scanner driver that is used for this scanner. It is probably the most common type of scanning driver.
Did you install Toolbox? Not sure? Assuming this is Windows, click Start, All Programs, Canon. Look for open CanoScan Toolbox (4.9 I think). Once this is open, click the 'Settings' button. There should be a drop-down menu for 'Select Scanner'. Make sure this shows the CanoScan LiDE 25. If that scanner is not listed, then the scanner driver is not being seen or may not be installed.
Once it has been verified that the LiDE 25 is selected, click OK. Next, click the 'Save' button. Check the box for 'Display the Scanner Driver'. Now click the 'Scan' button at the bottom.
The next window that pops up should be ScanGear. If this happens, then everything is installed and the scanner is being detected properly. Attempt to scan or preview.
If there was a particular application you were trying to use and you are still having issues with it, please give those details.
When you say the error occurs as soon as you press "Scan", is that the button on the scanner, or is it the Scan button inside of Toolbox or ScanGear?
If it is the one on the scanner, try accessing the driver through an application such as Toolbox. If you didn't download that when you got the driver, then go back to the Canon download page and download & install the CanoScan Toolbox. Once that's installed, lauch Toolbox from Start|All Programs|Canon|....look for Toolbox from here. Once you have Toolbox open, click the 'Save' option. Next, check the box that indicates to Use the scanner driver. Click the Scan button at the bottom. This should open ScanGear. Attempt to Preview scan.
If you don't have the scanner driver, then download that too.
Once you have Toolbox installed and you open it, there will be a PDF button. The scan to PDF window will open. If you're planning to do a multiple page pdf, then click the dropdown menu next to 'Save as Type:' and select PDF (Multiple Pages). You're now ready to begin, insert your first page into and then click 'Scan'.
