Question about Sony 1.44MB Floppy Floppy Drive

Installing floppy drive

Hello and wondering if I could get instructions on how to install floppy drive. I have a barebones build and thought I had ordered flopping and didn't. I have replaced hard drives and memory, along with video cards etc., but this floppy I bought had no cables with it (are they pre-installed?)
and no instruction book, and no CD. So am little confused. Thanks for any help you can give me, email: anchor100a@verizon.net,

Hi,is it a IDE cable
(if it is you can buy 1 from local computer shops for a few $ just make shure it is a floppy IDE cable)
the is a special mother board slot for floppy cable plug it in and then plug it into the floppy drive and make the computer reconise it by going into the BIOS
hope this helps :-)

You would need about 1000 floppies to store Windows XP. You need to go into the BIOS and select the primary boot drive to optical(cd). Then restart with the windows disc in the CD drive. Floppies haven't been needed to install the OS since Windows 98.

How do I install updated BIOS on a Shuttle SD37.

You need to download the Award Flash BIOS to a floppy; then make a Windows bootable floppy (Google for download). boot to the floppy then insert the Award Flash BIOS and your downloaded BIOS image (from Shuttle) and run the BIOS update.

Failed hard drive (assuming one is installed), or could be that it has "lost" the Windows installation.
Possibly a virus, you need to reinstall windows, or hopefully, repair the installation

To do this, as this does not appear to have a DVD rom, you will need the following:
  1. A legit copy of windows (whichever is installed currently)
  2. A spare computer or preferably an external USB DVD Drive (if the latter, skip to the end)
  3. The SATA drivers for this laptop (essential if using windows xp, may not need if vista)
  4. a USB pendrive of at least 4 GB
  5. A USB Floppy drive (possibly)
  6. a copy of win to flash
http://wintoflash.com/home/en/

Uisng the spare computer, extract the contents of the Windows disc to a folder on the spare computers hard drive. Run win to flash and follow the instructions, it will build a boot copy of windows on the pendrive that you specify (it will format the pendrive also).

Copy the sata drivers to the USB floppy drive (you might get away with copying them to the same usb bootable you have just made but I doubt it)

Now, in the bios, set 1st boot to USB drive

Then boot and install, when you reach the F6 prompt, point it to the usb floppy drive and let if find the sata textmode drivers.

Its hould then find your existing windows installation and repair it

IF you ahve a USB DVD / CDROM drive, ignore the above and just install from that, you may need to use a floppy usb to install the sata drivers though

Hello,
Borrow a USB floppy drive, copy the update on a floppy disk. You will need a floppy to update the BIOS of the old computer anyway. Reviving a defunct machine with Linux is a worthile endeavor.

Hope it helps.

Blue screen when loading windows 2003 server

if you get the blue screen code and type it in www.dogpile.com you can find some answers there, i would sugest that you reset all the bios settings to factory default, that normaly fixes the bluescreen on instalations, you may need the motherboard drivers for the sata and put them on floppy for the system to install the hard drive drivers.
one problem i do come accross is that sata drives are funny so in most bios settings there is a sata setting that switches back to IDE it was for backward compatability problems.
good luck

Installation of BT-146

Yes, you need to plug in a 4 pin FLoppy Molex connector. Your power supply should have at least one. The power connector is right next to the Floppy Drive connector.

Also, the Floppy connector goes in with pin 1 (The red stripe) to the left looking at the unit from the back (furthest away from power).

There is no manual to speak of.

you need to put the sata drivers onto a floppy disk and when it asks during the xp setup do you want to install any 3rd party drivers say yes and load the drivers from the floppy. The sata drivers with the floppy generator should be on the drivers cd you recieved.
