Yahoo! Messenger gives you the option to make your status appear "online", "busy" or "offline." If you want to appear online all the time you must set the messenger to do so, especially if you changed it to a different setting at any point.
1.Sign On In order to set your instant messenger to "online" you must sign in to your account. You should use your Yahoo! email address and password to sign in to the account. If you want the program to sign you in automatically, you must check these options on the initial sign in box.
2. Settings Click your name at the top of the "friends" list and change your setting to "available." Available means you are online at your computer and ready to chat.
3. Changes No changes are made to your status unless you sign off (which you will then appear offline) or if you physically change your setting. It does not change every time you sign off.
It's because you can receive only two messeges from your friend in your mobile. Rest will be forwarded to yahoo server as offline messages. When you login again on pc you will get those messeges in pc as offline messages from server.
If your chat is disabled, you will need to log out first.When you sign in once again, the chat will be available. If it is still not available, scroll down, looking at the left side of your browser page (facebook). You should see 'friends on chat'. Click on any of your friends to start the chat. However, if your chat goes 'offline', double click the 'chat offline' bar, located at the bottom-right of the browser. Hope this helped.
Hello thanks for using fixya Actually your status on Facebook is as "Offline", thats why you are not able to chat with your friends and you appear them as "Offline" To chat with your friends and make you visible you have to make your status as "online" For this sign in your Facebook account, when your home page will open, On the left side down on the page there will be written that "you are currently offline to chat with your friends "Go online". Click on it and your status will become online. To demonstrate it physically here given is a Picture which will surely help you out

'Appear Offline' lets you do that! Allows you to see who's signed on to Facebook Chat without having Facebook chat activated. You can poke and send Facebook messages to your online contacts from the Appear Offline page.
i also got a same problem.. i've read about it somewhere that you can try change your language.. then change it back.. do it few times.. but i didnt work for me.. fyi.. i had all my friends in lists.. some friends were in more than 1 list.. and not all list displayed on chat.. so i display all lists and somehow the problem solved..
I don't believe you can see who is appearing offline. The whole point of being online but appearing not to be is your privacy so that others cannot see. If you think or hope someone is online send them a message and wait for a reply. If they don't answer either they are busy or they don't belong on your friend list.
You can be logged into hotmail messenger and choose how you want to appear to your contacts. The 'status' optains range from: Available Busy Away Appear offline Although you may choose to appear offline, you are still logged in can send and recieve messages. All it does is discourage contacts from sending you messages when you are busy.
