The light meter is not working on my Minolta Maxxum 7000. Someone told me that I need to replace the lithium battery but I can't find any place on my camera that would hold the lithium battery.

Your camera uses 4x AAA 1.5v alkaline manganese batteries (definitely NOT lithium, your camera doesn't respond well to rechargeables of any kind either). If you look at the side of the right hand grip you'll see a large screw. Use a coin to turn it counter clockwise a quarter turn and the battery compartment will then open.

It seems that you'll find a user manual to be of use. Click here for part one and here for part two; both are free downloads in .pdf format.

Maxxum 7000 My Program Back 70 has the display "flashing" like it needs a replacement battery. Any ideas on what is causing this. I looked and it does not seem to have anywhere to hold a lithium backup...

take off the battery holder and remove the screws on the metal plate. gently lift the plate and replace the battery. remember the different length of the screws.
camera may need a little time to for the circuit to energize.

Is the Minolta Maxxum 7000 capable of using infrared film?

goneoutthewi,

once the shutter is closed or the shutter open and the mirror is up no light strikes the film except the image. don't forget to use the red markings on the lens as infra-red focuses on a different plane than visible light.

Lithium backup battery

Found in a posting somewhere. The backup battery is a CR2016/2025 and is located beneath the metal plate on the body under the battery compartment. It is held in place with 6 screws.

Lithium battery

Try letting the camera set for a while with the new batteries in. I had the same problem, nothing worked after i replaced the batteries. I let it set for a couple of days and everything started working.

Maxxum 7000 camera lithium battery

The lithium button cell is under the metal plate where the battery holder attaches. There are six screws holding the plate to the camera. I believe the cell is a CR-2025.

That being said, replacing the lithium battery will only restore the cameras ability to remember your settings and frame counter when the regular batteries are not on the camera. It will not restore functions of the camera.

If the camera is not functioning properly, you have a power problem with the main batteries, not the memory backup cell

Minolta maxxum 7000 35 mm camera

I had the same problem. After I replaced the lithium backup battery, everything works perfectly. It is a CR2016 watch battery and it is located behind the silover plate inside the battery compartment. Remove the 6 screws and replace the battery. Note the polarity when you remove the plate because the camera will not operate if if it is put in backwards.
