Make sure to plug the telephone fax line from the phone jack in the wall to the Line port on the back of your printer. For more info, please refer to the Lexmark X125 User's Guide.
If you have an answering machine connected to the same fax line, be sure to configure it so that it answers first before the fax machine (e.g. if your answering machine picks up on the 3rd ring, set your fax to pick up on the 6th ring or more)
If the line has a voicemail feature, disable it or request for a distinctive ring from your phone company.
If the printer doesn't have memory function itself... they're not going to reprint.
However, for your HP6310, they do have a function for 100 pages of fax memory.
Fo go fax manu (on your left side, by facing printer), press the fax set up and will see the reprint for fax.
If you would like to save money, try refill kit by "ROADINK". Not only they are easy, but also the printing quality is good. For your better understanding pls check out my youtube video. And will see how easy ink refill can be done.
Disconnect the power cord from back of the printer ( while printer is power on ) While holding the # and 6 key connect the cord back ( This step will erase all the fax logs and settings you have set on the printer )
Also Press the Setup button and Scroll to FAX SETTINGS ( or ADVANCED FAX SETTINGS ) Check for ECM ( Error correction mode ) - Press OK Turn it OFF
Finally if the issue is still not resolved, Disconnect the Phone cord from Printer port and re-connect Check for any other loose connections ( of phone socket ) within the house. ( disconnect and reconnect )
First, Connect the Phone line in Line 1 EXT at back of printer
Check the No. of Rings on your Answer machine. If you have 4 Rings set on Answer machine then you need to set 6 Rings on the printer ( as simple 2 rings more than your Answer machine ) And you need to turn off ECM on the Printer setup
Press Setup button Scroll till you find Fax Settings - Press OK Choose Rings to Answer - Set it - 6 ( based on the Rings on Answer machine ) - Press OK Check for ECM - Error Correction Mode - Press OK Turn it OFF - Press OK Check for Auto Answer option - Turn it ON too.
Try to Run Fax Test Press the Setup button on front panel Scroll to Tools - Press OK Choose Run Fax Test - Press OK It should print the Fax Test Report.. it will list you the possible cause why you are getting Fax Failure..
If it says Hardware Test Failed..do a Reset on the Printer ( Hard Reset )
this will printer reset the settings to Factory default like your rings to answer will change to default, Speed Dial list will be wiped off
Steps to do : Disconnect the Phone cord from EXT 1 of printer
while the printer is on, Disconnect the power cord from back of printer. While holding the # and 6 Buttons, connect the cord back and release the buttons after 5-6 seconds..
go thru the alignment process and re-align the printer Connect the Phone cord back and try to Run the Fax Test and check if everything passes in the list.
turn off ECM and v34 in the fax settings of the unit... try to plug it direct to the wall phone outlet too... if you have DSL on the same line, make sure that you have a filter on this printer's fax line...
