I am having a simiar issue yet mine people can hear me and I cant hear ANYTHING! Its frustrating and when I take it to Verizon the blasted thing works! Grrr I cant figure it out it sporadic! HELP!
Pearl's speaker volume is generally pretty low, but quite OK for a reasonably quiet room. Make sure you press the 'P' key to turn on the speaker phone. You will get an icon in the display window which indicates it. Also, of course, make sure you turn the volume all the way using the keys on the side. Watch the volume slider icon to make sure it's all the way up.

I to faced the same problem.
First of all disable bluetooth in the phone and switch off the bluetooth device.
Now try to make a call and see whether you can hear it or not.
If you are unable to hear then try to press the Mute button (which is on the top of the phone).
I hope you should be able to hear the voice now.
It worked for me.

I don't have a solution...I have some bad news!!! I'm on my third pearl...in a year, tmobile will no longer replace it because I'm off my warranty. Every time, the same thing, I can only hear if I'm on speaker phone. This last time when it happened, I went in to the store, and there were three other customers in there, same problem...same phone. I will never own a Pearl again!!!

I have been having the same exact problem. My pearl only works on speaker phone. It is very annoying! No one can hear what I'm hardly saying on the other end. This is the worst phone I've ever owned! Please help. T-mobile is horrible also.
This happened when I setup a bluetooth headset. Tried disabling bluetooth still not working. Have teh same problem can only hear calls through the speaker phone.
