We have the same problem, any solution would be of value. It gets quite irritating.

I have just bought an Acer Aspire 6920 and have the same problem. I had this problem on a previous laptop (Toshiba) too.

That means that the keyboard has been set to a different language. On my screen at the bottom right hand is a little keyboard icon and when i click on it it lets me scroll through US English, Canadian French and Canadian Multilingual Standard. If the keyboard is set to the Canadian French option (or whatever other option that is available on your keyboard in red characters) the number two button changes function.

SOURCE: Keyboard

The character code for the @ is 64. To insert it, hold the ALT key down and type 0064 on the number pad.

Hope this helps. Let me know if you need further assistance.

It's possible that you have hit the Num Lock key while you had another key pressed. Try the following combinations, one at a time, to see if any of them work. Be sure to test each one before moving on to the next one.

CTRL and NUM LK
Shift and NUM LK
ALT and NUM LK

A lot of times characters will swap places if one of these combinations has been pressed, and pressing the combination again should switch it back. Let me know how it goes! If this doesn't work, we'll try something else.

How does one access the @ in order to insert it into an email address when one sends an email? Pressing down SHIFT as I press the 2 key results in getting the " sign instead of the @ sign.

Hi, Solution 1: You can change the keyboard layot from the control panel Solution 2: Try the combination Shift+' button next to the Enter or try all the keys with Shift combination and find the @.

The keys are not synchronised properly. The @ key and the " are typing each others symbol. ie I have to press shift 2 to get the @ symbol and vice versa.

you are using a usa keyboard.
if you want to use the uk keyboard layout change the regional settings, go to languages and there is an option to change the keyboard.
uk keyboard will print " when pressing shift+2

@ appears when pressing shift 2

In american keyboard shift+2 is @, latin-american keyboard shift+2 is ".
Im guessing ur problem is the language setup of ur keyboard, depending on ur OS, go to control panel, Clock, Language and Region, Change keyboard or other input methods, Change keyboards and there u got to add urs :D,
Sometimes it switches back to english, so if u want to make sure it doesnt happen, after u add ur keyboard language, remove the other one that u dont need.

My keyboard letter types wrongly to type @ I have to press shift and 2

UK keyboards use a different key for @.
If you wish to change the keyboard layout, you can do this by right clicking on your taskbar and select "language bar". When this is done, right click on the keyboard symbol and select "settings". Change the default language (to UK) and your keyboard will type correctly.

Keys Confused on logitech ultra-flat keyboard

You have to change the KB language to US-English. It seems that you got the European layout set up currently.

Go to Control Panel and select "regional & language settings". In the tab marked 'regional options', select "English (United States)" from the drop down menu. If that is already the selected option, then choose "English (United Kingdom)" instead. That should solve the issue.

Cheers!
