How do i do the factory restore on my sony vaio?

Your VAIO® computer is not supplied with System or Application Recovery CDs. Use the VAIO Recovery Wizard utility to recover your computer's operating system and preinstalled software programs. For more information about the VAIO Recovery Wizard utility program: 1. Click Start from the Windows® taskbar, and then click Help and Support. 2. From the VAIO Help and Support Center, click VAIO Recovery Options. Your computer must have an active Internet connection to access the Sony online support Web site. Observe the proper safety precautions when you upgrade your Sony computer. See Before upgrading your computer.

I have a sony vaio vgc-rb38g desktop and was wondering if I can upgrade to get faster internet? I've installed all new updates and that wasn't enough. I just don't know where to start. Thanx

Hello smith_kelsey,
  • The first thing I would recommend it to go to Speedtest.net or Speakeasy.net to see how your internet speed compares to others in your area.
  • What internet browser are you using? I would recommend Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. They out perform Internet Explorer greatly. If you do choose one of these browsers definitely setup the options to clear your cookies, saved pages, cache, and passwords every time you close the browser. This will help keep things running smoothly.
  • If you are not doing so already I would recommend running a Spyware program once a week. Spybot Search and Destroy is free and works great.
  • Next, you could do some hard drive maintenance; a disk cleanup and de-fragmentation does wonders sometimes.
Hopefully this will get you started. Post a reply if you are having issues or please rate this solution if you found it helpful. Thanks! Edward

try that link, on left hand side of the page it says drivers and right under that is manuals specs and warranty. Should be able to find it in there someplace.

My Sony VGC RB38G keeps losing power. I suspect it is an intermitent proble with the power supply. What is the part number for a replacement PSU and where can I get one?

You can call or go online to get the power supply you need. I recommend Tigerdirect.com, pricewatch.com, or 3btech.net.

Go online to get the phone #, and call to make sure you get the right one.

Wii plug in

plug the Wii into your computer and then try the add new hardware in you control panel, make sure you are plugged into the internet when you do, I think the drivers may need to be installed when the Wii is plugged in and on with you internet connection going in case it needs to update the drivers. I sure hope that gets you up and going, If not just write back here and I'll see what other solutions we can come up with. thanks
