Internet adaptor My internet is not connecting to the internet anymore. The switch on the left hand side won't go off orange. When you move the switch it should turn blue to show that it picked up an internet connection. The wireless networks are not found and it seems as if the drivers are absent. my presario v6000 series has the same problem. I recently purchased it secong hand and used to restore disks to reload all software. During the initial setup, between the various shutdowns, there was a pop-up that said the hard was disabled and to go to hardware configuration and enable it. I did and it turned blue, but shutdown and restarted two more times. After the restart, it did not show up on the hardware list. I downloaded all the latest drivers and tried to run the wireless assistant, but the wireless assistant does start and it still doesn't show up inn hardware configuration. Help!!

This could be three things, first, a hardware fault, which the wireless will need to be replaced,

2) You can go into network connections through control panel and double click the wireless network to re enable.

3) Go to HP website and reinstall the wireless drivers. ( If you need the wireless adapter type, check out device manager in control panel

When I try to turn on wifi it will not turn on. Help please.

This can be a frustrating problem. Sorry you are having this. Number one and most important, is there a WiFi switch on the side or back of your computer? Some HP and Dell models have a slider switch that must be turned on before you can connect. After that follow these steps if your computer does not automatically connect.
1. Go to the Windows button (rainbow colored window) in lower left hand side of computer. Click
2. See "Control Panel" and click it or type in Control Panel.
3. Click Network and Security
4. Click Connect to a Network that you want to connect to. For example click Home 8405
5. You will be asked to enter a Security Key which is like the password for the network. Push return and you should be connected.

Your WiFi light should be blue instead of orange
On the lower right hand side of your computer you will see some bars next to the speaker (sound) icon. Click those bars and it will tell you if you are connected.

Good luck and happy surfing the Internet.

My Dell Inspiron 560 suddenly stopped connecting to internet through cable-modem.

Onboard adaptor hardware failure? Or is it missing Drivers?
Wireless adaptor - did you install drivers for adaptor? Did you check that WiFi on the adaptor is switched on?

On a side note: I've found that USB 2.0 Wireless N adaptors are the best for connectivity, as they have their drivers on the adaptor, are fully plug and play (Vista/7/8 and even some models on XP). I recommend Transcend (brand name).
