Same problem, but I don't have the tools to open the case. Also I don't want to buy a new cartridge as it costs much.

I have the exact same problem. I cleaned the contacts, replaced the cartridge, opened the case to inspect for any obvious disconnects or damage, but still nothing I seem to try will fix it.

I have the exact same problem. I've run all of the problem solving stuff, but it still doesn't work...... Please help

I just put a brand new color 57 cartridge in my machine and it gave me the same error message; telling me to remove the cartridge, and put it back in. I finally tried the old cartridge and it ran fine!! so I'm assuming it is something wrong with the ink cartridge. I've had this printer many years and never had this problem before. What a huge hassel, because there's no way to take the cartridge back to the store. It's been well over 6 months. So what am supposed to do? Write HP. I need the ink tonight! I will never buy an HP printer again. This one is a replacement for the one that broke a year to the day after buying it.

My print cartridge was a no-name refill.  I put the empty HP back in, and the lights went away and it is working.  I am going to buy an HP cartridge.  Don't use the generic print cartridges.

Same problem with me.
I openede the whole box ( 4 screws ) in the corners. Then I presed the tiny belt on the left side to its socket, cleaned the contacts of the cartridges (56,57) with water and made them dry.

Then I reched the position of the small door which is ment to be opened once you wnat to replace the cartridge.

After this the printer works again.

I had the same problem I have replace 56 nothing hapened.
I open the whole box ( 4 screws in the corners ) once you open the deck you can see on your left side the tiny belt which I checked on its contacts and pressed it more stronger in it socket.

Then I cleaned the contacts of both cartridges with water and than made them dry.

Then I rechecked the position of the door which is ment to be opened once you replaced the cartidge I removed them and put them back.

After some of those steps the amber light ( checked the cartridge stoped blinking )and the printer is back in order.

Will it print with the old cartridges? Sometimes you get a bum new cartridge. If you don't get the error with the old carts, then take the new ones back for exchange and try again.

My printer doesnt print anymore error msg and will not turn off. Ive installed new print cartridges and no luck keep getting the error msg and wont print at all. I have a psc 1210 all in one

What is the error message?

Also, please consider the following:

Are you using a factory new ink cartridge?
If you are using a refilled or third party cartridge that may well be your problem. Most manufacturers build logic into their products to prevent the use of “Other Equipment Manufactured” cartridges as well as re-filled cartridges.
They do this to prevent problems from contaminated inks causing problems with print quality or damaging the physical printhead.
If you are using factory new cartridges, then please call the manufacturers Technical Support for assistance with the warranty on the cartridges

You do need both cartridges installed in order to use the printer. Even if one is near empty it will print (although your quality may suffer).

HP PSC 750xi - Incorrect color printer cartridge installed error

I had this same problem and by a luck I fixed it. Not sure if the method to the madness had anything to do with it, but I'll put it down in the order that I did everything. 1. reset to factory defaults 2. pulled all cartridges out. it prompted me to put color in first, then black. message was still blinking so i took out color and put it back in again. 3. i did the partial reset by holding down cancel and left arrow while i unplugged/replugged the printer. 4. no the printer started displaying "remove and check color cartridge" (or something to that degree) 5. i took out color cartridge, cleaned the contacts with water on towel, and replaced cartridge. 6. same message still being displayed, but it allowed me to print a maintenance report. so i then cleaned cartridges and aligned cartridges through standard menu. 7. msg still being displayed, so i turned off/on printer again. this time it came back up with no message at all. 8. printer now works
hope this helps and works for ya'll too!

Cartridge error light on

I just recently had the exact same problem. I went to the HP site and went to the Software and Drivers section for software and patches to download. I scrolled to the very bottom and downloaded the one marked "HP Print Cartridge Utility" and installed it. It fixed it in about 5 seconds. I hope that helps! Here's the link I used:
