Ok Fred did your son pass along any cd's for the machine, look in that plastic envelope he dropped on you and said you will never need them. In there is a WinDVD 5 cd install cd, slide that bad boy in and let auto start load it on the machine. If its not there tell JR to find it when he does install it or have him get his **** over to do it he took it off to put another DVD program on. And after that tell him to take you out to the web page for it and updated it because if i remember its going for about $59 bucks

My sony vaio laptop model pcg-k33 does not play any type of dvds. would you please let me know how I can fix it? Thank you for you help.

I see its a DVD ROM not writeer so should read DVDs. Maybe the country is not set correctly. Access this by clicking on My Computer / Right click on CD/DVD writer / properties /auto play select mixed content. Also check for country and ensure it is selected correctly.

NB = If you make a mistake in country selection and try to correct it you will write off the DVD drive and render it useless as this procedure re writes the chipset. can only be done once.

Hi, My Sony Vaio DVD Windows Vista computer will play some DVDs without difficulty, others it refuses to play at all, and on others, it will play all of the movie except for five minutes in the middle....

Just due to dust on your dvd lens run dvd lens cleaner and after load full drivers of dvd which either given you on time of buying or you have to download from sony site

I have a Sony Vaio desktop with XP. My DVD-CD

Have you tried burning a CD in the new drive? Because the drive is a DVD it will always be recognised as a DVD, but should work perfectly well with CDs both playing and recording.

My Sony Vaio FR-130 will read cds and will read DVDs that are not copyrighted but will not play dvd's that are copyrighted.

Try reloading the DVD drivers...If you don't have them on cd, you can download drivers from sony website. once you download drivers, reboot comp. see if that works...let me know.

good luck

Problem Playind DVDS

Even the most basic pc should be able to play DVD's, firstly try a different dvd player sofware, see if any change and don't have any programmes running in the background. If you still have the same problen, i would return to your retailer and ask for a exchange, because some companies do not like you messing with the hardware or settings, and of course can void your warranty.
