a dvd is stuck in the player in the "read" position. but will not do anything or eject. i have now unplugged my unit, but am not sure what you mean by "open the case and go into the dvd unit"? i tried unscewing a couple of screws, but still cannot get into the unit. there is a tiny pinhole indentation that i stuck a paperclip in, but nothing happened.

Disconnect the Power Cord. Open the Case and go to the DVD unit. On the right side of the unit you will see an indentation which is the mechanical portion of the DVD Unit.

Push the indentatation in, it is the eject switch. The DVD unit door opens remove the DVD stuck in the unit.

Put cover back on plug the unit in, insert a workable DVD and all should be OK.

The problem was the unit could not read a Defective DVD which I made and the unit was locked in to reading the DVD.

I hope this helps

My jvc dvd player/vcr will not eject disc says its reading but wont play or eject

You might want to check the thin ribbon cables attached to the dvd inside the unit, pull them out and slip them back in.

VHS won't work

Had the same problem on my JVC vcr/dvd combo unit.
You need to turn off the timer function. I did this by making sure my remote was in the "VHS" mode...turn the swith from TV to the right (found on the remote in the upper left corner...an then hit the "vcr" button. Then point the remote at the VCR unit and hit the No. 4 button (timer turns off). Your unit should not have the red timer displayed and you should be able to play your tapes okay.

Hope this helps.

After removing the cover on the player, I rotated the gears manually watching as the locking arms retracted. Once I heard a click ,the drawer unlocked and I opened it and removed the dvd. I replaced the cover and it's good as new!
