It only covers damage caused by the system itself. i don't believe that it covers something like, water or fire or drops or falls or dust...
basically things caused by you or nature. and if it just wore out, then it isn't covered ither

Contact playstation and see if this hardware malfunction is covered under warranty. If it is caused from water damage it probably wont be covered under warranty.
Hope this helps ^^. Please dont forget to rate, Thanks

PSP Slim - Broken Screen ?

Its the LED on the psp that is broken. The LED is the inside screen that brings the picture up onto it like an LED flatscreen tv.

It wont be covered under your sony warranty because your warranty covers you for electrical faults not accidental.

You could contact sony to see if they would fix it for a charge but to be honest the money you'd spend fixing it, you might aswell just buy a new psp

PSP does not charge.

might be the motherboard or charging board overheating crack open the case if its not under waranty and check all connections . turn the psp on and see if any thing gets really hot really fast or if there are any burn marks also make note that the psp might not freeze up when open ... if this is the cast its a cooling issue.... please be forewarned that opening your psp WILL VOID your warranty and could be hazardous (shock, burn damage ect ect) and that YOU AND ONLY you are responsible for your actions

let me know if this helps :)

Psp repairs

Hey Hotshot369,

Unfortunately Best Buy™ stores are unable to provide repair services on the Playstation Portable (PSP) at this time, even for PSP's under the manufacturer's warranty. If your PSP is currently defective or has suffered damage to the LCD screen, you will need to speak with a Sony representative for more information on your repair options.

Remember that warranty coverage does vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, and it cannot be guaranteed that accidental/incidental damages are covered by Sony for this product.

Additionally, please keep in mind that other options may exist if you have any kind of additional coverage through a third party, such as a Best Buy Product Replacement Plan (PRP). If you have purchased PRP coverage from your local store, you may always contact us toll-free at (888)-539-6883 in order to file a replacement claim or may speak with a Geek Squad® agent at your local store for further assistance.

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

PSP Screen

If it is still under warranty, take it back to the store and they will either fix it or replace it with a new one. There isn't a way for you to replace the screen yourself no.

My brother got my psp wet while he was watchin spongebob with my psp.. now my buttons are malfuctioning and it wont read any games... what do i do?

Turn it off and remove the battery (on the left side of the back there's a button that says push, if you push it and remove the cover you'll reveal the battery). Then, wait for it to dry for a day or so, so as to prevent any further damage from being done. It'll hopefully work better when you turn it back on after it has dried, but if it doesn't then you've probably damaged the internal circuit boards. In that case, the best thing for most users would be to sell it as broken on eBay and get a new one, or, if it's still under warranty, to get it replaced by Sony (of course, if you mention the fact that you got it wet they probably won't replace it).

Psp distortion

HI Alici,

This can be repaired, however, it will require a purchase of a new LCD screen, and possibly a new shell. I repair this kind of thing at my home.  I run the Playstation Clinic and charge reasonable prices to repair Video game consoles and DVD players.  All together I can replace both the LCD and face cover including return shipping will be $80.  This repair should only be done by a experienced Repair service.  Even knowledgeable repair people that have never disassembled a PSP can damage the psp so badly it will require the replacement of the motherboard as well, if not done properly.  The motherboard costs about $100.  If your willing to get it repaired you can contact me at Repairtech@Playstationclinic.com.  We specialize in PSP repairs.  90 day warranty! The price above is only adding $25 Labor for up to 3 hours of work. Shipping will be about $5.  The LCD screen is about $30, and the cover is about $20. So your Repair would be either $60 or $80 depending on what parts are needed.

Sony PSP wont play umd

Same with my PSP. My son accidentally broken a spring sensor for the UMD when you close the UMD cover of the PSP. That's why the drive doesn't recognize if there's a UMD. Sony Service Center here in the Philippines doesn't have a replacement part for this.
