You can manually access the routher by typing 192.168.1.1 into the web browser once it has connected to the internet. You then can set up wireless access points and set a WEP, etc for security. This would also allow your adaptor to connect to the router once you have set everything up. The default username and pass for routers is usally: User: admin ...password: password

THIS IS APPLICABLE TO YOUR PRINTER THERE ARE THREE TOTAL SOLUTIONS
Driver_1.00.01.zip file and save to your desktop. Use a file compression software to unzip the file located inside MyBook_vista_windows7_Driver_1.00.01.zip to your desktop. You will now see a file called "MyBook_vista_windows7_Driver_1.00.01.exe" or "MyBook_vista_windows7_Driver_1.00.01" on your desktop. Double-click on "MyBook_vista_windows7_Driver_1.00.01.exe" or "MyBook_vista_windows7_Driver_1.00.01" to launch the driver installation program. The wizard will display a message saying that it is ready to install the driver, click Next. Accept the license Agreement and click Next Click Install to start the installation of the drivers. The driver will be installed without further interaction and should take only a few seconds to install. When the installation is finished, click Finish to close the installation utility. Reboot the computer system before connecting the My Book Essential or Premium Edition hard drive. After connecting the My Book Essential or Premium Edition hard drive, Windows will automatically detect the unit and a new hard drive icon will appear in the My Computer window. Your My Book Essential or Premium Edition hard drive should now be ready to use.
Here are the recommended steps to connect to a wireless base router 1. Check and remove power from both your router and the DSL ROUTER/CABLE ROUTER MODEM 2. Wait one complete minute until applying power to modem then wait one minute before applying power to wireless router. 3. Ensure you have green lights across both devices, specifically, the recieved and sent lights. These same lights will tend to blink rapidly when there is active data, at times this will still blink, and a DNS error will prevent you from connecting to the internet. If this is the case, call your ISP Internet service provider 4. Check your authentication Security key on your router first, then check all your wireless devices to ensure they are on the same network name, key, and channel with the same type of encryption as the router 5. Start one device at a time and check for connectivity, if your still experiencing a problem, check the settings on all your wireless adapters, device drivers, internet browser settings, firewalls and proceed. 6. still have problems, connect a rj45 cable from the router directly to your computer to at least see if your wireless settings are bad or if the router may be bad. 7. Contact your ISP to determine if your receiving singal 8. Avoid using a splitter or parital power backup for yours routers 9. Still having problems, change your wireless router only after your ISP changes their faulty modem 10.Attempt the same process when setting up your new wireless router and or modem

DIR-615 wireless router not installing

You setup the router with the Ethernet cable always plugged in.. UNTIL you are finished configuring through the Ethernet cable via your browser. Once WiFi SSID & passwords WEP/WAP has been finished, AND you had another WiFi card in that PC the Ethernet cable was also connected to... well, THEN, I guess THEN, you may be able to disconnect the router from PC & then connect it again Wirelessly. But whats the point? But until then you won't find your router ON the Ethernet port, it would then be trough the WiFi adapter.. and that would have to be activated to work. Hope this clears things up

Linksys WRT160 router doesn't work

Wi-Fi Protected Setup Button
If you have client devices, such as wireless adapters, that
support Wi-Fi Protected Setup, then you can
use Wi-Fi Protected Setup to automatically
configure wireless security for your wireless
network(s).

To use Wi-Fi Protected Setup, run the Setup
Wizard, or refer to the “Wireless > Basic Wireless
Settings” section of “Chapter 3: Advanced
Configuration".

Wi-Fi Protected Setup LED (Blue/Amber) It
lights up blue when wireless security is
enabled. The LED flashes blue for two
minutes during Wi-Fi Protected Setup.
The LED lights up amber if there is an error
during the Wi‑Fi Protected Setup process. Make
sure the client device supports Wi‑Fi Protected
Setup. Wait until the LED is off, and then try again.
The LED flashes amber when a Wi‑Fi Protected
Setup session is active, and a second session
begins. The Router supports one session at a
time. Wait until the LED is off before starting the
next Wi-Fi Protected Setup session.

Ethernet adapter error during install

Your ethernet adapter might be disabled. Go to Control Panel > Network Connections and look for Local Area Connection. Right-click it and choose Enable. Or go to Device Manager and Enable it there. If that didn't help, try to use a different Ethernet cable.

Error 313

Network connection showed 3 LAN or High-Speed Internet connections. One said it was disabled, another one had a big red X over it, and the last one said connected. The big red X, though unplugged, was apparently still active. The fix was as simple as disabling it.

Netgear No Internet connected detected

Are you sure you have a PPPoE Modem? Usually these are DSL connections from Phone and Satellite ISP's... But there are also other ISP's that use them, although a very large percentage of ISP's just use DHCP. Try to set the router up using DHCP instead of PPPoE and see if that works...
To check if you are on the internet:
Start-> Run -> cmd [enter]
in the black box:
ping google.com [enter]

another useful command is:
ipconfig
