Question about Pioneer SD-P50A3-K TV

No closer to fixing!

I bought a service manual (pdf) and have checked the diagrams to familiarize myself better etc.., I checked the fuses and they look okay (I do not have a fuse tester). I guess, I could simply replace them.

Now that being said, again my symptoms are, I turn on the TV, I hear a click and nothing else happens. What can cause this? How do I test the area/chip etc.., so I know where the cause may be? Is there a gizmo I could buy to help. Once I find the issue, obviously I can buy the part (hopefully)

Any suggestion is welcome.

The main fuse (250v 4amp) could be blown. it will show red.. flash green when you turn it on then immediatly turn off.
replace wth another fuse or you can also use a 125v 4 amp fuse
.. Mine is running fine now :)

So I bought a Toshiba 52HM84 52" TheaterWide HDTV-ready rear-projection DLP TV at a garage sale and the people said tthat all it needed was fuses. I don't know anything about fixing tvs or fuses but I...

According to the service manual there are 10 fuses in 52HM84. I can't tell from the photo whether that fuse is good or not; if the filament running through the center of the fuse tube looks intact and the glass sides of the fuse do not look discolored (no black or brown heat/soot spots inside) then the fuse is probably good; it's easy to check with a VOM once you take the fuse out of the holder if you're not sure. Here is a link to the service manual. Good luck!

Top, bottom, and sides of screen are blurry

Hello there,
Being a practical technician I would assist you technicaly.
Please find G-Board in your TV and replace IC1502 & IC1506 (STK392-150)
Before replacement of above said ICs, check follwoing Fuses (PS1501-1502-1503-1504-1505 & 1506) all are 2A rating. If you have VOM (Volt Meter) then confirm +15Volt & -15Volt supply on G board. If you need further help, I can provide with pictures of related circuit portion.

Repost last comment on pt-47wx53g problem

Hi, I post here my last comment, follow the diagram at page 44, leave the checkup at page 16, for some of the test you need raster, and the TV is in protection mode now.
From protection mode follow troubleshooting diagrams, I think is page 44/45.
There are many faulty component that can give you blank screen with no raster, the strange things is that the TV stays on, has sound and is not on protect.

Test also the sygnal boards (the ones with the AV connectors) and see if it makes any difference switching the signal to a different input, this TV has several ICs that manage the video signal, testing blindly will give no help. Follow the diagrams on manual.

I think the following was my last comment:
-----------------------------------------------------------------

You need to follow the troubleshooting charts at page 44 of user manual.
(download the service manual here)

Regarding the jungle chip, that is just a familiar name for the main computer CPU, service manuals rarely call it Jungle chip. Your jungle Chip is the main processor, IC4511, be careful handling the component arount the IC4511, some IC in there is sensible to static charges in your hands, better to keep fingers away.

In your case I would start testing following the diagram at page 44 of SM. I will also test the pico fuses at the base of convergence ICs, if the STKs had been replaced
That is what you do when the nature of the problem is not clear.

Since there is no protection mode on, the fault
can concern IC3001 and IC3002 that are vidio processors, and other parts involved.
If at any point you get the led on, and TV going in protect mode, with a flashing led, that is a step forward, means that the jungle IC (The IC4511) had detected the fault.

Start testing following the procedure at page 44, or same page on your version of service manual.

I have a 52 inch sony rear projection tv, model number kp61s75 with a convergence problem, can i fix it myself or do i need a tv repair man to fix it?

you can go into the menu and manually adjust the convergence it will look better most likely but a television should always be converged by a professional when first bought any way because they can do things we at home cant. i have mine done by a professional once a year and do it myself once a month to maintain the best possible picture. good luck

Ready to replace the STKs. Before digging in what points (caps etc) need to be shorted before servicing?

If you are not familiar with servicing electronic circuits, I would strongly suggest you did not try. You could do far more harm to your equipment and worse, to yourself, than it is worth. Please, take it to a professional for repair. The price could be a lot less in the long run

Fuse keeps blowing

it might be worth fixing but you will have to call a tech out to give you and estimate. When the fuse keeps blowing that means it is drawing to much current so it could be the power supply and that might not be that expensive. You best option is contacting pioneer and asking them where the closest authorized service center is.

Convergence

It does sound like the blue convergence amplifier IC,if you are familiar with soldering and unsoldering electronic components you can change it yourself, the first thing to do is identify the convergence IC's,all of the should have the same part number and start with STK--- ---,every set uses different numbers(amps). Is suggested you change all 3 of them at the same time and the average price for one is about 18.00 for the good ones.Once you know the STK number you can find them at www.partstore.com .If you are not too familiar with tv service you should seek the assistance of a servicer, sometimes you dont need to do adjustments after you replace the IC's but other times you need to get into the service menu and do some adjustments.Let Us know if you need more information.

Service manual (schematics)

I just bought a service manual on Ebay. I'm not at home so I don't remember the vendors name, however it was $8.50 and the documentation seems complete. I also just found this site: www.john-oliver.net/video/50H81.pdf which contains a block diagram but not the full set of schematics. If you really need the schematics let me know and try and get them to you.
