Question about Compaq Presario R3000 Notebook
I have a Compaq R3000 that is typically plugged in to the AC adapter, but occasionally I run it off the battery. A couple of weeks ago when I unplugged the AC adapter the computer immediately died, as if the battery had no charge. I ordered a replacement battery, but this one behaves the same. When I check the power monitor the battery appears to be stuck at 0% or 1%, even when it has charged over night. The charge light is on when the computer is plugged in, but it appears to go out after 30 minutes or so. The computer runs fine on AC power, but dies immediately if unplugged. Any thoughts?
If the battery is not charging, then the charging circuit of the motherboard is bad.
Page 3-22 lists the spare part number for the motherboard. (4 versions depending on options)
